Card Partnerships is a growth focused B2B2C (business to business to consumer) business delivering unique value to strategically aligned Partners, Cardholders, and Capital One. The growing Partnerships organization strives to accelerate growth and become a market leader in the large Private Label and Cobrand segment of the Card market.

This Chief of Staff team member will report directly to the Partnerships Chief of Staff and will lead Partnerships associate experience and team operations. In this role, the team member will play an integral role providing thought leadership to influence the Partnerships culture and engagement agenda, partnering with internal and external communications leaders in delivering robust communications aligned with our strategy and imperatives, and facilitating multiple management practices and segment operational disciplines.

Participating on the Chief of Staff team provides the opportunity for:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the business strategy and operational disciplines

  • Interaction with leadership across the business and with key stakeholders and partners across the Card organization

  • Collaboration and developing relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Leadership of key culture and engagement programs and initiatives

Responsibilities Include:

  • People/Culture: Provide thought leadership and partner closely with the CoS, HR, Communications, to lead the Engagement leadership team to assist in shaping and executing the business culture agenda.

  • Events and Experience: Lead team of CoS team members to deliver events and experiences and operational disciplines that enhance our Associate Experience across multiple geographies. This includes: VIP Client and Associate Experiences, Partnerships key events across our sites, Recognition programs, Site Enhancements, logistics, space optimization, and more.

  • AAS Analytics and Action Planning: Analyze results, create summary insights for PLT, facilitate action planning for high priority areas.

  • Communications: Partner with internal and external communications leads to refine and optimize thoughtful communication vehicles and messaging, optimize the interaction model with Partnerships leadership and associates, and create alignment while energizing associates. This includes Partnerships Pulse, monthly newsletter, external Press Releases and reactive media talking points, Slack channel messaging and more. 

  • Student and Grad Program: Facilitate Student and Grad program allocations and assignments (partnering with HR, Finance, S&G leads, talent leads, and Partnerships LT).

  • Management Practices:  Support the CoS and partner with key leaders to continuously refine and facilitate management practices to support the business growth agenda, operational excellence, and leadership alignment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Operations, or Process Management

  • At least 5 years of experience building and influencing strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • 3+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence

  • 3+ years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership and non-leadership audiences

  • 7+ years of experience in Project Management, Operations, or Process Management

  • 7+ years of experience building and influencing strategy

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff


McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
