Project Manager - Digital Banking Release Management

Digital Banking Release Management will play a critical role in building the organization’s in-house proprietary commercial release management framework.  Once built, this individual will work across various product, technical, and other horizontal disciplines to promote best practices, optimize processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the digital banking platforms in compliance with the framework. 

This role will be responsible for the creation and on-going support of our proprietary platform release management process:  portal and platform release management governance for federated capabilities; release oversight and planning; analytics and monitoring; and, first touch end-to-end problem solving to enable client and associate success.  On any given day you will connect with leaders across our product, tech, and enterprise to influence decisions, while representing the holistic view of our platform and its initiatives.

Role Impact:

The success of this role will be to ensure tight cross-platform coordination of change management while planning and monitoring the overall roadmap to ensure effective dependency coordination and holistic launch activities.  Additionally, the role will be the platform front office for stability monitoring, incident management, and associate and client readiness in leading the release management processes.

  • Framework and Playbook Builder / Owner

  • Release and Incident Manager

Primary Responsibilities

  • Release management - Oversee Federated ownership roadmaps, release timelines, production availability, client migration approaches, etc. across the platform 

    • Release & Governance Framework Creation:  Build CML Product’s in-house proprietary platform framework as packaged in an end-to-end playbook.

    • Release & Governance Framework Adherence: Promote and ensure consistent application of framework across all relevant Capital One functions and initiatives.

    • Innovation & Strategy Support: Support initiatives related to Enterprise Strategy, innovation, and the adoption of new technologies (e.g., AI strategy) within the context of the framework.

  • Stakeholder updates - Consistent and timely updates regarding the platform releases including client and associate feedback and metrics/monitoring with all LOB heads 

  • Partnership with Launch and Go To Market 

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with risk, launch and go to market teams to facilitate framework integration and address interdependencies.

  • Liaison to business teams (sales, SBB Bankers, RMs, SBB TMSOs, etc.) to support releases, product messaging and answer questions 

    • Support and Guidance: Provide guidance and support to teams on understanding and implementing framework principles, ensuring consistent interpretation and application.

    • Voice of the Associate and Voice of the Client:  Partner with the Pools & Panels Team ensuring studies are conducted and insights provided on prioritized platform needs.

  • Incident management support, communications and coordination

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Military experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in project management with a focus on digital 

  • At least 2 years’ experience working closely with technology teams or agile practices

  • At least 3 years of banking experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of project management, software development and release management

  • Strong knowledge of metrics, KPIs and data driven monitoring practices regarding stability and reliability

  • Master’s degree in business administration, information technology, data science, or some other computer related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a release management leadership role

  • Established leadership ability with proven experience influencing others to drive change management, consensus building, and adoption

  • Experience with large scale software programs

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Charlotte, NC: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Project Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
