Launch your software engineering career with CODA
No coding experience? No problem. The Capital One Developer Academy is a six-month experience that prepares non-computer science majors for software engineering roles at Capital One, all while being a full-time associate. Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll continue evolving your skills in our Technology Development Program.
The Capital One Developer Academy (CODA) is a pathway for you to shape the future of the tech industry. It exists as a meeting ground, where your unique background and passion for tech combine with our culture of belonging and skilled software engineers.
We know the tech industry needs more representation, where people can infuse their life experiences into products that help everyone. That’s why CODA is on a mission to create successful software engineering careers for non-computer science students who come from all kinds of backgrounds and disciplines, from psychology to media arts to biomedical engineering.
Gain valuable tech skills
With CODA, you’ll find a place where you belong as you work alongside colleagues who encourage you to bring your curiosity forward, ask the question “why” and share your perspective as you start your tech career.
All you have to bring is yourself. We’ll provide the rest as skilled engineers teach you how to code, complete full stack web application development and tap into more specialized topics, such as microservices, object oriented programming and more. You’ll meet with mentors and tech leaders to learn what the day to day is like when working on a software engineering team. You’ll have access to Capital One resources like Tech College, our in-house learning platform where you can enroll in thousands of free classes.
Make a meaningful difference
All of your learning culminates with a mini internship called “Dojo,” where you’ll build products that solve real business problems and help the customers and communities we serve. CODA associates have created products and platforms that have made a difference; allowed for faster credit approval checks, completed a front-end redesign of Capital One websites and used software development to design a feature helping customers make loan payments on the vehicle.
Launch your software engineer career
Once you’ve successfully completed CODA, you’ll move into our Technology Development Program, where you’ll continue building products that change the financial, travel, tech and auto industries.
CODA alumni are now software engineers, working on iOS development, dataset management for user interfaces, data pipelines in Snowflake and more. They create company-wide mentorship programs, serve on leadership councils and coach current CODA associates.
What you learn in CODA—combined with your unique background and perspective—will give you the skills to succeed no matter what path you choose.
