Principal Associate Brand Agency Relations

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented marketing professional to join the Capital One Brand Agency Relations team as a Principal Associate, responsible for sourcing and managing top event activation and market research agencies used by the Brand department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how to develop great partnerships while managing performance, and a passion for building industry connections to uncover tools and insights for the benefit of our internal customers.

What you’ll do:

• Serve as relationship manager for the Brand Social, Governance and Content teams who support enterprise marketing needs

• Demonstrate the ability to maintain and grow relationships with internal teams and agency partners

• Oversee and provide sourcing strategies for social media and governance initiatives 

• Provide communication and reporting for accountable executives, Brand senior leadership, and key agency stakeholders

• Collect performance feedback for managed agencies to develop action items, opportunities and to celebrate successes

• Partner with agencies and beacon brands to gather insights that drive business value to Capital One and advance Brand’s agendas

• Create internal and external best practices in collaboration with other Brand teams or internal stakeholders

• Collect and analyze agency rate cards to ensure accurate benchmarking and obtain the best pricing

• Oversee and negotiate agency contracts while following established processes and procedures

• Develop solid understanding of the financial services competitive category, stay current with marketing trends and identify opportunity areas

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

• At least three (3) years of experience in client relationship management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Creative, or Communications

• At least five (5) years of experience in relationship management at an agency or major brand

• Passion for marketing, creativity and brand building, and the growing social media and sponsorships landscapes

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a focus on active listening and negotiation

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Brand

McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Associate, Brand

New York, NY: $131,800 - $150,500 for Principal Associate, Brand

Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Brand

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
