Human Resource Global Merger and Acquisition Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Manager, Human Resource (HR) Global Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) Project Manager inCapital One’s HR Business Risk Office, you will be responsible for supporting the end-to-endHR life cycle for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions. Thisincludes project managing HR due diligence, planning and/or managing for integration, and executing alltransaction / integration, risk-related and associate-oriented processes. The team works and collaborates with key HRfunctional subject matter experts and enterprise cross-functional deal or integration teams including Risk and Compliance. This role willhave a global scope, supporting acquisition and/or integration activities across geographies and lines of businesses. Ifyou are a self-starter, love problem solving, possess a high degree of judgment and enjoyworking collaboratively on often highly ambiguous matters, this may be the role for you!

The right candidate will possess a hybrid project/process management background withdemonstrated experience managing simultaneous initiatives. Strong problem solving skills,integrative thinking, attention to detail, risk mindset and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment areessential to succeeding in this role. Someone who thrives on working on high-profile projectsand is able to effectively communicate and influence a wide range of HR, risk and businessprofessionals to create and implement well-managed risk practices and innovative associate-related solutions at all levels will bewell-suited for this role.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, highly motivated project management professional, with diverse experience across multiple HRfunctions as well as geographies. They have a passion for owning and driving process andoperational improvement, excellent integrative thinking, prioritization and communication skills and a track record of thinking creatively to deliver people orientedinnovations and mitigating potential risk to the Company. Additionally, building win-winpartnerships with multiple business stakeholders as well as across HR, while adapting to andmanaging change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, are default essentials for this role.

The Senior Manager Project Manager is primarily responsible for: 

  • Support of HR due diligence and integration activities, including providing projectmanagement support on multiple concurrent acquisitions and other transactions

  • Develop and manage project plans in a dynamic environment, including the tracking ofprogress against plans and communicating updates to the deal-specific HR and/or integration project teams

  • Coordinate, execute and instill strong risk management practices throughout acquisition and integration lifecycle to identify, socialize and resolve key risks and issues to deliver a consistent and well-managed experience across the organization

  • Work with HR project teams to conduct employee related data analysis (e.g. workforce / headcount, benefits, etc.)

  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery ofcommitments

  • Prepare and assemble employee schedules in purchase agreements following thoroughdata validation

  • Manage the Offer Delivery processes and system integration for acquired associates

  • Support and/or deliver cultural and logistical integration and onboarding activities foracquired associates

  • Work with HR M&A Director to identify lessons learned and process improvements tosupport continuous improvement of HR M&A infrastructure and processes

  • Support and/or own HR M&A capability building projects including development ofresource and training materials for HR teams supporting deal or integration activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 5 years of Project Management or Human Resources experience

  • At least 2 years of Process Improvement experience

  • At least 7 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of Financial Services Risk Management experience

  • At least 7 years of Project Management experience

  • At least 5 years of Global Human Resources experience

  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teams

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma certification

  • Experience with Agile or Design Thinking methodologies

  • Knowledge of Global Mergers and Acquisitions

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
