Code to commercial: An AI data scientist's journey
Nadia didn’t come to Capital One expecting to be in front of the camera. But a year after helping launch one of our most innovative AI products, she found herself in Hollywood filming a commercial to spotlight the work she helped bring to life working at Capital One.
As a data scientist working in the agentic AI space, Nadia was a key contributor in building Chat Concierge, a state-of-the-art conversational AI assistant to enhance the customer experience for car buyers and dealers. The project brought Capital One into a new era of generative AI, using multi-agentic workflows to simulate human-like reasoning. And for Nadia, it meant navigating fast-paced innovation and tackling complex, first-of-its-kind challenges.
“Seeing the product you’ve helped build come to life and make a real impact is incredibly rewarding,” she said. “Hearing the positive feedback and knowing that your work is driving innovation and creating real value—it’s definitely something to be proud of.”
Leveling up through gen AI
By the time she joined Capital One, Nadia had already spent years in the financial industry in the machine learning/AI space, building and deploying models into production. But the projects she dives into at Capital One feel different. She isn’t just training models, she’s helping reimagine how AI can interact with people. Early generative AI experiments gave her the chance to test new ideas, and the Chat Concierge project gave her the chance to put them into practice.
“This project truly helped me grow,” she said. “When I reflect on it now, I’m proud, not just of what we built, but of how much I’ve learned and evolved along the way.”
From day one, Nadia was hands-on: designing multi-agentic workflow frameworks, troubleshooting bugs and working across business lines to bring the vision to life, allowing her to problem-solve in real time.
The pace was lightning-speed. "Working on something so innovative meant we faced new challenges, and it was quite exciting to see everyone bringing fresh ideas to the table and how we navigated them together," she said. "It was a great opportunity for all of us to grow our problem-solving and teamwork skills."
For Nadia, the mix of high impact work, constant learning and a supportive team made Chat Concierge a turning point in her career. Even now, Nadia finds herself pulling from those experiences with how she breaks down a complex problem, supports a teammate or steps into uncertainty with more confidence than before.
Bigger than the project
The significance of the project didn’t fully sink in until after launch, when she was asked to represent the team in a commercial.
“It was thrilling and a little surreal, going from building and refining the product one month to representing the team on camera the next,” Nadia said. “Being chosen to tell this story means a lot.”
While the recognition highlighted the work's importance for customers and the future of cutting-edge generative AI at Capital One, for Nadia, the commercial wasn't the finish line—the real impact came from how the project reshaped her confidence and career outlook.
"Working on this project strengthened my leadership skills and transformed how I approach challenges," Nadia said. "I find myself leading with more clarity and approaching problems in new ways."
Now, she's even more proactive, attuned to team dynamics and decisive in taking initiative—traits that have been sharpened through working on high-impact projects at Capital One.
