As a Capital One Software Engineer, you'll work on developing a backend API that helps other applications across the enterprise abstract their authorization layer. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: Python, REST APIs, SQL, NoSQL, GraphDB, GraphQL, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.
You will:
- Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years experience in software development (Internship experience does not apply)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- 5+ years of experience in Python
- 2+ years experience with AWS
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $165,100 - $188,500 for Senior Software EngineerSan Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $174,900 - $199,700 for Senior Software EngineerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
