As an Platform Engineer (Network Engineer), you’ll deliver highly available, scalable, and diverse network infrastructure to facilitate key business functions at Capital One. General Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy and optimize WAN/Backbone/Carrier-hotel/Cloud connectivity to support scalable high performance WAN operations.

• Tests, analyzes, performs corrective actions, and restores network equipment and services in a timely and accurate manner to eliminate/reduce application impact. Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to stabilize critical network outages. 

• Plan, lead high-level, low-level design and implementation of WAN network changes, keeping infrastructure compliant with the latest codes, scaling up/scaling horizontally to meet growing business needs. 

• Highest level of escalation for any Network engineering troubleshooting. Performs Proof of Concepts, Chaos testing, and creates, maintains, updates support documentation for operations team.

• Collaborate with architects, operations, security teams to ensure high availability and redundancy, DR, and compliance with financial industry standards.

• Deploy 10G/100G Ciena dark-fiber ring, Point-to-Point circuits, Wave Circuits, DIA, AWS & GCP cloud connectivity.

• Develop scripts to support and maintain WAN infrastructure.

• Assist on 24*7 on-call weekly rotation to support network infrastructure and support off-business hours change deployments as needed.

• Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and 'security first' principles in daily work.

• Design Network Architecture diagrams using Visio, Lucid Charts.

• Deliver project presentations to help operations team upskilling. Lab recreations using Cisco Modelling Labs, VIRL, GNS3 etc.

• Initiates high level solution design approaches, and guides team to achieve desired key software delivery capabilities using automated, coded enterprise and observability.

• Research emerging technologies and solutions to resolve business problems and evangelize the new solution to make it to production.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

• At least 4 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)

• At least 2 years of experience with AWS

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with Network Engineering

• 3+ years of experience with AWS

• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $119,400 - $136,200 for Senior Platform Engineer

McLean, VA: $131,300 - $149,800 for Senior Platform Engineer

Riverwoods, IL: $119,400 - $136,200 for Senior Platform Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
