Risk Associate KYC/AML - Business Cards & Payments - Hybrid

Business Cards & Payments is Capital’s One’s Commercial and Small Business credit and charge card business, as well as emerging payment functionalities in the B2B space. As a Risk Associate in Business Cards & Payments, you will play a vital role in supporting the built-for-business Know Your Customer / Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML) program. 

In this first-line role, not only will you lean into your process design and problem solving skills by supporting the execution of key processes to ensure we remain well-managed, but you will also grow your strategic and influencing skills as you help create and implement strategies that streamline and improve overall results. 

In this role, you will thrive in a cross-functional and collaborative environment that values unique perspectives, rewards innovation, and challenges the status quo. As an integral member of the team, you will have a high level of exposure across the division, including partners in AML, business intent, risk office, technology, compliance, legal, and Operational Risk Management. 

You’ll oversee existing processes and help build new ones from scratch, partnering with your leadership to implement new ideas for increasing efficiency and end-user satisfaction. We’re looking for an associate with the ability to excel in managing multiple priorities at the same time, while still meeting key deliverable deadlines and ensuring all stakeholders are informed of project statuses along the way.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of risk management or process management or project management experience 

  • At least 1 year of experience in the financial services industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business Process Management (BPM), Change Management, or Six Sigma certification

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree

  • 1+ years of experience in regulatory compliance related to AML 

  • 1+ years of experience working with cross functional teams to deliver improved customer experiences

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $80,100 - $91,400 for Risk Specialist


Richmond, VA: $72,800 - $83,100 for Risk Specialist










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
