Operational Risk Management (ORM) Project Manager

The Project Management Office team is deeply focused on providing strategic thought partnership and high-quality delivery of Operational Risk Management’s (ORM) most important initiatives. To do this, we aspire daily to be proactive change-agents and great partners. We believe in high quality delivery and are looking for a Project Manager who is excited to bring bold ideas and deliver impactful work that scales.

In this role, you will partner to shape how key strategic risk initiatives gain traction and integrate within ORM and across the Enterprise Risk Organization (ERO) by prioritizing work, connecting dots, and enabling effective change management.

Responsibilities:

  • Launch projects by partnering with stakeholders to define key milestones and definitions of done, designing and driving implementation plans through to completion 

  • Drive and/or support multiple concurrent workstreams or projects through to completion including include change management principles and activities

  • Drive work based on defined priorities; maintain routines, scope of deliverables, timelines, and identify risks and issues and escalate as needed 

  • Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery

  • Collaborate with internal partners to drive work

  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business process

Skills you’ll bring:

  • Project Leadership: You have a proven track record of project management experience, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work. You’re detail and process-oriented and adeptly manage several projects and initiatives at once with supportive direction. You have relentlessly high standards and pay attention to the smallest details in concert with the big picture.  

  • Problem-solver: You understand intent and goals for a body of work, propose plans to meet those needs, and autonomously pursue options to deliver results in a well-managed manner. You bring in data and metrics to ensure we’re identifying insights. You connect dots across stakeholders and priorities.

  • Valued Partner: You demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes.

  • Results Focused: You seek guidance to reprioritize as needed to adjust with changing business needs, and take action with urgency as appropriate. You bring an ability to thoughtfully weigh risks and implications, see around corners, and anticipate/proactively address concerns. You quickly pivot and lean in to change.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in project or process management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting senior leadership teams

  • 2+ years of experience with associate experience or associate engagement roles

  • 2+ years of experience in Change Management or Communications

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Manager, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $132,800 - $151,600 for Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
