The Talent Acquisition (TA) Risk team is part of Human Resources and includes Policy & Control Management, Quality Assurance, and Issue & Event Management for the Talent Acquisition organization and processes spanning the candidate lifecycle. We partner across the organization to surface problems early, contain risk before it escalates, and influence lasting solutions that enable a frictionless candidate experience. As a Risk Associate performing Issue & Event Management, you will partner with lines of business to understand each breakdown through thorough root-cause analysis, gather risk input from Compliance and the HR Risk Office, and influence the path forward. You will work with the HR Risk Office, Compliance and Legal to recommend corrective actions that align with policy and mitigate future risk exposure.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage multiple Risk Events and Issues through established processes and standards to mitigate risk and ensure optimal recovery
Partner with Compliance and the HR Risk Office to understand exposure from breakdowns and provide guidance to business units within Talent Acquisition
Guide root-cause analysis to fully understand each breakdown and influence sustainable corrective actions that prevent future breakdowns
Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders to collaborate effectively, ensuring delivery of commitments
Maintain performance aligned with quality and productivity metrics, ensuring incidents are documented and resolved in a timely manner
Surface actionable insights (e.g., trends in recurring breakdowns) to drive preventative risk-mitigation initiatives
Streamline communications with business partners regarding breakdown status, event progress, and process improvements
Use Capital One’s enterprise risk management tools, playbooks, and dashboards to document breakdown and remediation accurately
The ideal candidate:
Applies strong judgment and critical thinking skills to evaluate risk and influence equitable outcomes without getting lost in the details
Demonstrates curiosity and initiative by digging in to understand root causes rather than applying quick fixes
Communicates clearly and persuasively, distilling complex information into concise recommendations for applicable stakeholders
Builds trust through collaboration, partnering effectively with TA leadership, HR Risk, Compliance and Legal
Is able to deliver quality work, multi-task, and focus on priorities in a dynamic environment
Applies logical problem solving skills to break down incidents, propose solutions, and follow through to completion
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of process, project, risk management or operations experience
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year of Human Resources (HR) experience
At least 3 years of recruiting, process, project, risk management or operations experience
Certified in Business Process Management (BPM)
Certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
Subject matter expert in Risk Methodologies and corporate risk practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $71,200 - $81,300 for HR AssociateCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
