We are invested in elevating Data Products with dedicated teams chiefly responsible for ensuring our most important data is available at scale, with high quality, in all the environments consumers need it.

As a Project Manager within Card Data Now, you will help deliver on our strategy to onboard the best possible external data sources to build and sustain Capital One’s competitive advantage, in partnership with our Product, Tech, and Data Science teams. External data sources power Card’s underwriting, account management, marketing, and strategy, which will unlock tremendous value for Capital One in coming years. These data sources can include information from outside vendors, as well as data from other lines of business that add value to Card decisioning. In this role, you will work cross-functionally across multiple teams to help lead complex projects and programs that deliver world class data experiences that customers trust and associates love to use.

A qualified candidate will have: 

  • Demonstrated that they can improve processes, deliver well managed initiatives, and scale viable solutions

  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence partners horizontally across different teams and vertically across different seniority levels within the organization

  • Strong analytical and technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to change quickly

  • Experience working with data and automation tools

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, using judgement to determine prioritization and the severity of potential escalations

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead moderate to large complex projects and programs by providing contextual direction as the domain subject matter expert (SME) for operations to effectively partner with Product, Technology, Legal/Compliance, and Segments teams.

  • Lead the design, development, and management of project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements.

  • Identify key project dependencies, risks, and opportunities for risk mitigation 

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills which are essential for interacting with key stakeholders at all levels and job families across the company to manage, inform, and influence outcomes

  • Leverage problem solving and judgment skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and in a timely manner

  • Exhibit outstanding relationship building and influencing skills to collaborate and effectively drive project / program efforts

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a complex environment.

  • Champion process improvements and new delivery models including engaging Product and Tech teams in the creation and delivery of new intent

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of Project or Process Management experience

  • At least 2 years of experience working in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or MBA

  • 3+ years of experience with Credit Card lending, Small Business and Commercial lines of business or Retail Partnerships

  • 3+ years of experience with automation tools and techniques 

  • 3+ years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL

  • 1+ years of experience with AWS services, Splunk, and/or Github

  • 6+ years of Project Management experience

  • 4+ years of experience in planning and executing data analysis projects

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management


New York, NY: $186,300 - $212,700 for Sr Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
