The Enterprise Product and Experience team brings together cross-functional experts to help drive Capital One's Enterprise product, data, design, AI, machine learning teams, and build the experience & capabilities for all our associates and developers. Together, we are working with our partners across Capital One to deliver the future of industry-defining products, platforms, and experiences for our employees and customers. 

Our Team:

We are standing up a new team, EPX Chief of Staff & Operations, to increase visibility and prioritization across EPX domains, ensure tight horizontal coordination, and care for our Product Management job family as a whole. This team will be part of the EPX Top of House organization that supports the Chief Product Officer and is able to influence at the helm of our enterprise organization. The EPX Chief of Staff & Operations team will take the leading role in defining and supporting our planning and operations practices, developing our labor and talent strategy, and caring for our community of EPX employees. The EPX Chief of Staff & Operations team will also play a key role in caring for and investing in the full Product Management job family across Capital One, for example, building our product community and engagement strategy, and shaping our product learning & development agenda.

About the Role:

As a Senior Manager of Planning and Operations, you will play a pivotal role in enabling seamless planning and operations across EPX. Under the guidance of the Planning & Operations team lead, you will help to establish and implement new planning and operations mechanisms and routines, informed by leadership needs and current best practices across the organization and industry. You will operate in a dynamic environment, focusing on horizontal team coordination and driving key planning cycles and initiatives. 

This individual will be skilled in taking a proactive approach to identifying and executing on key operational needs, coordinating with teams from a variety of job families and roles, and creating detailed presentation materials to focus executive audiences on key operational updates and decision points. Exceptional presentation and delivery skills will ensure that these stakeholders remain not only informed, but engaged in the meaningful work being delivered.

In this role, you will act as a catalyst for change and innovation, working directly under the guidance of the Planning & Operations Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Product planning & operations:Work with key executives and partners to establish efficient and effective operational processes tailored to our unique needs. Partner with teams across EPX to get new operating practices stood up, and own the details of implementation to ensure that operating practices are well-run, accurate, and effective. 

  • Presentation & facilitation: Create detailed presentation materials to keep our most senior EPX executives informed on key priorities and enable effective decision-making.

  • Project management: Proactively identify and escalate operating risks and dependencies to key stakeholders. 

  • Data & analysis: Identify where data is needed to support our operating practices, and develop processes to collect and analyze operational data. Identify and highlight trends and variances in the data to help facilitate leadership visibility and decision-making. 

  • Product practices & governance:Build a deep understanding of the needs of our product teams, and assist in developing standards and best practices for local teams to leverage in their day-to-day operations. 

  • Coordination & stakeholder management: Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders across EPX to understand processes and drive results.

  • Operational excellence: Ability to take a rigorous, data-driven, innovative approach to develop solutions that will guide the operations and management of our business. 

  • Results focus:Ability to handle multiple priorities in parallel and collaborate with multiple stakeholders while working backwards from intended outcomes. Ability to take a pragmatic, outcome-driven approach from inception through implementation. 

  • Stakeholder management & influence:Ability to build strong, trusted relationships and operate in an influential manner with key partners to develop and execute operating practices, solutions, and strategic initiatives.

  • Presentation skills:Excellent presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Military Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, or Operations

  • At least 3 years of experience working with senior stakeholders across different business functions

  • At least 3 years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership and non-leadership audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s Degree 

  • 8+ years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, or Operations

  • 3+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence

  • 3+ years of experience working with product teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management


New York, NY: $186,300 - $212,700 for Sr Manager, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr Manager, Project Management









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
