Team Description

The Business Cards Field Analytics team is a high-performing group of data analysts dedicated to optimizing the efficiency of field sales teams. Our core responsibility is owning and executing targeting campaigns, powered by world class analytics, that drive prospect acquisitions and fuel customer growth.

Through data-driven insights and analytics, we enhance targeting analytics and strategies to optimize field sales wins and purchase volumes on business card products. We leverage new data sources for improved data quality, and own analytics of sales targeting campaigns. We closely collaborate with the Data Science team to integrate predictive targeting models. In partnership with Go-To-Market teams, we ensure the seamless launch and execution of impactful campaigns. We  work in close partnership with Sales Leadership to align targeting analytics and strategies with frontline needs, ensuring our analytics are directly connected to sales execution. We also collaborate with the risk team to maintain a strong balance between growth and credit quality.

Our goal is to empower yield sales with actionable analytics that translate into measurable business impact. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership: Develop analytics driven business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting customer and regulatory behavior

  • Business ownership: Have an ownership mindset, and potentially P&L accountability for a business segment. Strategic planning with a 1-6 month horizon

  • Leadership: May manage and develop a team of analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates throughout the organization with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One

  • Execution: Lead team on rigorous statistical analyses of various business strategies. Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, SQL, Cloud services and more — to lead the team to build and monitor targeting campaigns and deliver transformational insights from dataCoordinate across the line of business to manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute

  • Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including:Cross-functional teams of data scientists, data engineers, business analysts, marketers and product managers to deliver world class targeting analytics.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is a people leader: You have the ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. He/she should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results

  • Is results oriented:You display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • Is technical. You have hands-on experience developing data analytics solutions using open-source packages. You’re comfortable with Python & SQL, and are passionate about developing these skill sets further. You are able to guide the team to write well documented and efficient code that is production-grade. 

  • Is statistically-minded. You understand statistical concepts like sampling, bias, uncertainty, etc. and can reason using these principles. You know how to interpret the outputs of standard statistical models, as part of your role requires you to work closely with data science teams. You have knowledge of hypothesis testing, regression models, classification models and clustering. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management

  • hasstrong written and verbal communication skills. Your documentation clearly articulates your thinking and you can communicate results well to your peers and other technical and business leaders. 

  • is a self-starter and a creative problem solver. You take initiative, iterate quickly and know how to move past challenges. You address business problems using actionable analyses and data analytics solutions. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)

  • At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • At least 1 year of experience in people management

  • At least 1 year of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

  • 2+ years of experience in product development

  • 2+ years of experience in financial modeling

  • 2+ years of experience in economic forecasting

  • 2+ years of experience in project management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Business Manager


New York, NY: $210,500 - $240,300 for Sr. Business Manager


Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Business Manager









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
