In this role you will join a team of business analysts in the Retail Bank that are focused on shaping the strategy for Retail Bank (Channels & Operations - Strategy and Insights) through rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis. The Market Strategy team is responsible for creating the strategic vision of our network of Cafes, Collectives, Branches, and ATMs. The team creates forward looking plans for each of these networks, manages our existing locations, and partners with others within the bank to serve our customers and create an exceptional customer experience through our physical presence.
This role is in the Network Economics team within Market Strategy, whose focus is on managing our existing locations through a wide range of decisions spanning network optimization, physical layout, and expansion of services provided in our locations. In this role you will have the opportunity to influence the future of Capital One’s physical network and propose these strategic plans to partners and senior leaders. This is a highly cross-functional role that will provide exposure to problem solving and influencing skills and act as a co-intent setter unlike any other place at Capital One.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Location performance analysis: Combine financial, customer, and transactional data to drive learnings on location performance and create recommendations on how we can improve
Spatial analytics: Working on one of the few teams in Capital One that specialize in spatial analysis, you will use ArcGIS and SQL to create unique insights into how our locations are impacting customers across the nation. Create data backed recommendations on how to optimize the location and types of our physical presence
Customer level analytics: Create new ways to evaluate and visualize how customers interact with our physical locations with a direct impact on future network decisions
Cross-functional problem solving: You will work with many different teams across the retail bank to create proposals that impact both the day to day operations of our locations and our larger physical presence strategy
General Responsibilities:
Analysis: Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations
Product: Perform modeling/analytics to assist new product and pricing strategies for various lending products
Marketing: Support direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Help build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go to market strategies
Credit Risk: Support step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis
Execution: Involve problem frame-works, develop hypotheses, test and analysis, solution development, scope operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts and develop a monitoring plan
Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability
Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management
Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business
Strong communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $109,000 - $124,400 for Sr. Business AnalystCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
