The Strategic Investments Group (SIG) creates and runs partnerships that connect Capital One’s Commercial Bank with institutional capital to expand our lending capabilities and make Capital One more relevant to customers. Summary:
SIG’s Co-Lending and Credit Insurance Desk is a small and highly effective team that provides alternative distribution solutions to complement our front end originations and capital markets teams seeking to compete in the lending market with larger hold sizes. The team was formed in 2020 and manages established and new relationships with asset managers and insurance companies, and continues to experience significant growth in deal and partnership activity. This role will be responsible for helping to operate and scale both our existing as well as our newer Co-Lending and Credit Insurance partnerships. The associate will directly report to the Head of the Co-Lending and Credit Insurance Desk and work directly with a team of high-performing associates. The role will also closely interact with SIG leadership, senior originators, internal and external underwriting teams, insurers and insurance brokers, as well as numerous functional partners across our Commercial Bank to provide an especially high amount of visibility for a role at this level.

Responsibilities:
Drive post-close incremental commitment requests for our corporate lending partnerships from internal originations, risk and capital markets teams, directly coordinating with external partners, insurers and insurance brokers to determine partner eligibility and potential hold sizes
Monitor an established portfolio of loans with credit insurance for performance deterioration, amendment activity, or potential claims, coordinating notices and votes between our deal teams and external insurance underwriters and brokers
Lead team’s coordination efforts for internal deal team referrals to our external real estate and equipment finance partners
Support Senior Desk associates and provide surge capacity for new deal activity in our corporate lending partnerships, with opportunity to increase scope with experience
Ensure diligence materials and amendment requests are shared with partners where necessary
Review and ensure accurate portfolio and pipeline data infrastructure
Assist in coordinating partner closing processes with Senior Manager peers, Head of Co-Lending and Credit Insurance Desk, external legal counsel and operations, ensuring strong supporting documentation with each transaction
Drive infrastructure projects to enable continued scale for established and new partnership programs in addition to supporting ad hoc internal and external partner requests
Coordinate insurance claims processes
Work with Team Leader to prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders for strategy updates, business updates and other ad hoc presentations
Ensure all responsibilities are always balanced and well-managed while maintaining a client first focus
Navigate across a large organization, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and proactively maintaining transaction-level momentum
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
At least 2 years experience in Corporate Banking or Insurance
Preferred Qualifications:
Foundational understanding of the commercial lending debt markets or credit insurance markets
Experience managing or supporting capital markets, securitization, syndication or insurance market executions involving coordination across multiple lenders, investors, insurers
Experience in risk analysis or portfolio management at banks, insurers or export agencies
Proficiency in data and reporting infrastructure, including using SQL or Python for queries and scripting
Familiarity with Snowflake or similar BI tools like Amazon Quicksuite for automated reporting and dashboards

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Chicago, IL: $119,400 - $136,200 for Principal Associate, Strategic Investments GroupCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
