Manager, Risk Management - Business Cards & Payments

Business Cards & Payments is Capital’s One’s Commercial and Small Business credit and charge card business, as well as emerging payment functionalities in the B2B space. As a Risk Manager in Business Cards & Payments, you will play a vital role in standing up a built-for-business Know Your Customer / Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML) program. In this first-line role, not only will you lean into your analytical and problem solving skills by supporting the development and deployment of innovative solutions to mitigate risks to the Company, but you will also grow your strategic and influencing skills as you help create and implement risk strategies that enable the Company to adhere to all laws and regulations, while building frictionless customer experiences. You will create order and sense out of complexity and uncertainty and enable confident, data-inspired decision making.

In this role, you will thrive in a cross-functional and collaborative environment that values unique perspectives, rewards innovation, and challenges the status quo. As an integral member of the team, you will have a high level of exposure across the division, including partners in AML, business intent, risk office, technology, compliance, legal, and Operational Risk Management. 

You will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of laws and regulations, business policies and interpretations, and risk profile; 

  • Assess the impact of the changing environment on business objectives and risk appetite; 

  • Analyze data to proactively identify risks and trends and provide insights that support internal customers in decision-making; 

  • Provide guidance and advice to business partners as they implement new initiatives;

  • Collaborate with AML, risk, compliance, operational risk, and other business support functions (e.g., legal, privacy); 

  • Escalate risk management gaps, issues, and concerns to management;

  • Identify opportunities to improve risk management practices and develop solutions to perfect risk management, eliminate waste, and deliver an exceptional customer experience;

  • Build and manage controls, leveraging PRIME and Fuse, in partnership with control owners and testers across the organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, process management, program management or risk management 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (i.e. Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree) 

  • Experience in regulatory compliance related to AML

  • BPM, Change Management or Six Sigma Certification

  • 3+ years of experience working with cross functional teams to deliver consumer experience
