About the Team
As a Product Manager, you will be at the forefront of defining what high availability looks like for an updated, cloud-native bank. We focus on the "well-managed" aspect of our infrastructure, ensuring that as we scale, our stability scales with us. You will own the roadmap for Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), specifically focusing on Availability and Resilience. This role requires a blend of technical curiosity and product rigor; you will partner with Enterprise Architects to ensure our platforms can withstand systemic shocks while maintaining peak performance for our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the Platform Reliability Strategy:You will define the roadmap for system-wide fault isolation and blast radius reduction. You leverage cell-based architecture to ensure that localized service disruptions do not impact the broader customer base or compromise platform integrity.

  • Define Availability Standards: Support the definition and implementation of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets. You will work with engineering partners to ensure these aren't just metrics on a dashboard, but actionable drivers of the product development lifecycle.

  • Drive Engineering Partnership: Serve as the bridge between business intent and technical implementation. You will translate complex resilience needs into technical specifications, partnering with engineers on system design reviews and circuit-breaking logic.

  • Stakeholder & Risk Management:Partner across organizational boundaries with Risk, Cyber, and Line of Business (LOB) stakeholders to align on uptime requirements and mitigation strategies. You will use data-driven storytelling to communicate platform health and the business impact of resilience investments.

  • Problem Solving & Insights: Leverage data to identify potential single points of failure and advocate for architectural improvements. You will stay ahead of the curve on industry trends in cloud reliability to ensure Capital One remains a leader in platform stability.

  • A Systems-Minded Strategist:You recognize that product reliability is a direct result of robust system design. You apply your technical fluency in back-end complexities to translate architectural trade-offs into a roadmap that prioritizes fault isolation and platform stability.

  • An Execution-Oriented Manager:Someone who thrives in the details of the product lifecycle—managing a backlog, writing crisp acceptance criteria, and helping a tech team clear hurdles.

  • An Advocate for Quality:You believe that a feature isn't "done" until it is proven to be stable and scalable. You have a keen eye for detail and a passion for preventing bad outcomes for customers before they happen.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in Product Management

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: 

    • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)

    • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100 for Manager, Product Management


New York, NY: $179,700 - $205,100 for Manager, Product Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
