The Talent Acquisition (TA) Risk team resides within Human Resources, focused on activities that provide broad support across the Talent Acquisition organization and processes that span the candidate lifecycle. As a Horizontal Risk Consultant, you will be part of an innovative and talented team responsible for partnering across the organization to improve our risk position throughout the Joining Capital One Experience, drive key risk mitigation activities, and offer dedicated risk support for overarching business initiatives.
The selected individual will be responsible for executing the strategic agenda for risk mitigation in Talent Acquisition by partnering with cross-functional teams across the Human Resources organization (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Talent Assessment, HR Operations, HR Risk Office, HR Consulting, etc.).
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain deep understanding of the end-to-end processes, systems, and tools within the Joining Capital One Experience (e.g., Talent Marketing to Day 1 Onboarding)
Identify, assess, prepare and execute mitigation plans to care for risks associated with projects, processes and new or revised intent
Proactively and continuously monitor the Joining Capital One Experience for new and evolving risks inherent to our processes, systems, and tools
Provide risk consultation on and drive outcomes aligned to prioritized initiatives within the Joining Capital One Experience in order to improve recruiter and candidate experiences (including International initiatives)
Manage Enterprise Risk Management activities in partnership with the HR Risk Office (e.g., Process Level Assessments, Criticality Assessments for L2 processes, Business Continuity Plan, etc.)
Lead internal and external examination activities (e.g., audits) and own resolution for any applicable findings or remediation efforts
Develop relationships with Senior Leaders by leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure delivery on intent
The ideal candidate:
Is excited to operate in ambiguity and is comfortable in white space
Has prior experience implementing structure and governance where it previously did not exist
Excels in a collaborative team environment with matrixed reporting relationships
Can build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships across a geographically dispersed team
Has outstanding communication skills with prior experience influencing Senior Leaders
Can proactively and autonomously identify and solve large, complex problems, and
Possess the ability to not only adapt to change quickly, but also lead through the change with positivity
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 3 years of risk management experience
At least 3 years of process management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
3 years of human resources experience
3 years of recruiting experience
Certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
Certified in Business Process Management (BPM)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $126,700 - $144,600 for HR SpecialistCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
