TheEnterprise Product & Experiences (EPX)team is looking for a Director of Strategy to lead high-priority projects, in support of our Chief Product Officer and his leadership team. Working alongside the Head of EPX Strategy, you will help solve critical challenges facing our enterprise products. This is a high-visibility role where you’ll drive the work and shape the strategic thinking to influence the future of enterprise products at Capital One.
TheEPX Strategy teamworks closely with product, tech, and business leaders to shape product strategy and operations. We are a project-based strategy team, focused on priority work that directly impacts Capital One’s enterprise products and digital future. We provide the clarity and structured thinking needed to support senior leaders solving critical challenges.
General Responsibilities:
Drive Strategic Projects: Take the lead on important projects. You are responsible for defining the problem, building the work plan, and leading the research and analysis needed to find the right answer.
Drive from Insight to Action: Turn complex findings into clear, direct recommendations. You need to be able to present a logical case that gives senior leaders the confidence to make a decision.
Provide Direction: Navigate complicated issues to find a clear path forward. You’ll be responsible for providing clarity to the team and our partners, even when the data is messy or the solution isn't obvious.
Partner with Business Leaders: Act as a trusted advisor to the leaders running our enterprise products. You will work directly with them to help shape go-to-market strategies and solve their toughest business challenges.
Develop the Team: Direct work and mentor the more junior associates on the team. You will play a critical role in professional growth and improving problem-solving, analytical skills, and communication.
Core Competencies:
Strategy Consulting Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of post-MBA experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm with a strong track record of performance. Proven track record in a project execution environment is key.
Relevant Functional Experience: The right fit candidate will have a strong interest in technology and product management. Prior exposure to technology, digital, financial services or consumer products, either pre-consulting or during their time in consulting, is ideal but not required.
Leadership and Stakeholder Management: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six months at the Manager level. Comfort mentoring both a team of consultants as well as managing senior client stakeholders is key.
Structured and Logical Thinking: Superior critical thinking skills are critical to this role, including the ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and demonstrate a ‘nose for value’ to discern what is important and draw valid conclusions.
Analytical Aptitude: This person must possess the ability to run and manage highly complicated quantitative analysis in a defect-free manner with a deep knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Cultural Fit: This person will show proof of possessing the 4H’s throughout their personal and professional career, which are the cultural components critical to success at Capital One: horsepower, hunger, heart, and humility.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis
At least 4 years of experience performing qualitative analysis
At least 2 years of experience performing people management
At least 2 years of experience performing project management
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
2+ years of experience in financial services
1+ year of experience in consulting

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Business DirectorCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
