Senior Manager, Chief of Staff

Join the Card Tech Workforce Strategy & Operations Team as part of the Chief of Staff Team for Card Technology (CT). It’s an exciting time to be in Technology, especially Card Tech+, as we transform the way we do business and deliver effortless digital experiences to our customers.

The Chief of Staff office drives horizontal key initiatives that support ~6000 associates across multiple geographies and business domains. This Senior Manager, Chief of Staff - Workforce Strategy & Operations position will be a critical part of the Card Tech+ Chief of Staff team managing the organization’s International Expansion program. 

Responsibilities:

International Expansion Program Management

  • Drive and manage the execution of our short and medium international expansion strategy; includes headcount projections, location strategies, and skillset requirements

  • Contribute to longer-term international expansion forecasts and strategy in partnership with engineering and business leaders

  • Manage global cross-functional partners to provide perspective on implications to Finance, Operations, Technology, and HR leaders

  • Provide end-to-end project management support for preparation, onboarding, and monitoring of expansion; this includes budgeting, engineering intent alignment, and transition planning

  • Use labor intelligence data, HR acumen, business knowledge, workforce strategy, and org. design principles to provide recommendations and influence decision making

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Technology leaders, Product leaders, and Chiefs of Staff, understanding their strategic priorities, roadmaps, and organizational needs to inform workforce planning

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workforce planning methodologies, tools, and processes, championing best practices and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Build repositories, models, and/or educational materials to help the organization better understand ways of working, organizational health principles, workforce norms, and how/where leaders can improve their organizational health

Workforce Strategy and Optimization

  • Build workforce planning models and headcount projections

  • Advise and manage decisions on short to medium-term capacity

  • Develop and define new labor optimization strategies that help to identify efficiencies which may be leveraged across the Card Technology organization.

  • Own and support various workforce strategy initiatives and pilots across the organization; includes end-to-end strategy drafting, project management, and initiative tracking

Partnership and Executive Storytelling

  • Host cross-functional working sessions to align business and engineering leaders on long-term international expansion efforts; design appropriate workback plans accordingly

  • Hold regular updates and build close partnerships with Card Product, Finance, Risk, Tech, Chief of Staff, and HR partners

  • Prepare executive readouts to Card Technology leaders on project outcomes, workforce findings, and workforce plans

  • Be trusted conduit back to Workforce Strategy Business Partners and Central Workforce Team

  • Are independent, can work autonomously, and are comfortable owning the end-to-end experience for project development with little direction

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • At least 7 years of experience in Project or Process Management 

  • At least 4 years of experience in Workforce Strategy, Planning, or Analytics

  • At least 4 years of experience in either Google Sheets or Excel

  • At least 1 year of experience of workforce modeling 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or MBA

  • 9+ years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • 5+ years of data analysis experience

  • Expertise in SQL

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Chief of Staff


Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Chief of Staff


Chicago, IL: $175,500 - $200,300 for Chief of Staff









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
