As Capital One’s Retail Bank continues to mature its Business Intelligence and analytical capabilities, we are seeking a dynamic, high-performing Director, Data Analytics to lead its adoption of Big Data tools and other developing data technologies, both proprietary and open-source. This position will have a significant impact on the Retail Bank, so we are seeking someone who can take charge, think big, and deliver on our commitments.
What you’ll do:
This position will lead a team of Data Analysts and Data Engineers charged with executing the Retail Bank data strategy roadmap and working with key technical partners to develop infrastructure and capabilities to enable differentiated marketing experiences. The individual in this position will also be a key member of the Data Analysis leadership team, driving the data agenda across the Retail Bank. Given the substantial impact this position will have on the Retail Bank, we are looking for someone who can passionately lead a team of Data Analysts and masterfully communicate and influence across the organization, all while pushing the envelope on our technologies. The ideal candidate will have worked with best in class third party tools, technologies and have brought them to life in large organizations.
On any given day you will be:
Leading the Retail Bank Big Data analytical team
Driving data source and tool innovations based on stakeholder data needs, including adoption of Big Data technologies and development of a program to train and enhance associate skill-sets
Creating leading-edge data products that uncover opportunities for improvement in our Retail Bank portfolio and processes
Leading governance of our data assets, including development of a governance plan and structure
Providing strategic leadership on large cross-functional horizontal initiatives
Reporting on data analysis activities to partner groups and executives, incorporating novel reporting and data visualization techniques
Partnering with diverse stakeholders (from Analysts to Executives) to deliver horizontally and vertically across the Retail
Actively championing the usage and adoption of data tools and solutions across the entire Retail Bank Data Analyst community
Working in an agile fashion, managing the stakeholder set and capacity for the team
Partner with various engineering and enterprise functions in adopting and informing data flow standards across ingestion, transformation, access and publishing
Building and integrating streaming data capabilities and platforms to enhance the Marketing data infrastructure and flow both in Retail bank and informing across Capital One
Driving data source and tool innovations based on stakeholder data needs, including adoption of cloud native technologies
Maintaining and expanding the Bank Customer Data Platform and decisioning tools
Development of a program to train and enhance associate skill-sets and actively championing the usage and adoption of data tools and solutions across the entire RDB Data Analyst community
Work closely with Marketers on our path of digital transformation to help bring to life the new tools.
Strategic orientation in their ability to define roadmaps in an incremental way to support business goals
This position will be in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where you will be handling multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams. An ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities in addition to communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Prior experience in agile working with tech and creating organization roadmaps and driving strategy execution a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 9 years of experience in data analytics, or Master’s Degree plus at least 7 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD plus at least 4 years of experience in data analytics
At least 5 years of People Management experience
At least 2 years of Big Data technology experience
At least 2 years of Data Visualization experience
10+ years of Professional Data Analysis experience
5+ years of Marketing experience
5+ years of Big Data experience (AWS and Spark)
5+ years of cloud native (AWS) data processing experience
5+ years of Product Management experience
5+ years of Process Management experience
5+ years of Project Management experience
5+ years of experience with Python
5+ years of Data Governance experience
2+ years of experience with streaming data technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark streaming)
2+ years of experience with Java or 2+ years of experience with C++
