Experience Products & Platforms Risk Director

As a Director in Capital One’s Enterprise Services Risk Team, you will apply your leadership and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will lead a team of Risk Specialists and act as a thought leader working across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting edge Risk solutions to ensure Capital One’s continued stability and success. Directors in Capital One’s Risk Management organization partner with Executives and lines of business to drive organizational change in order to better manage the Company’s Risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

In this specific role, you will support the Experience Products & Platforms team and partner to help enable them to deliver innovative products and services to our customers in a well-managed way. We are looking for a passionate and seasoned leader who has an extensive background in risk and product management with a strategic mindset for delivering a human centered approach to managing risk.

XP2 manages and develops some of the most cutting edge products and platforms in the financial industry from our best in class EASE platform to our Capital One intelligent assistant. You will work closely with XP2 and Enterprise Services Risk leadership to support the delivery of new digital initiatives as well as the development of governance around existing platforms. 

Directors in Risk Management at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.


  • Manage a team of risk guides

  • Develop and execute the XP2 risk office vision and deliver on enterprise and team objectives

  • Manage the New Product, Marketing, and Initiative Governance (NPMIG) risk assessment process and provide consultation risk management consultation to lines of businesses and staff groups 

  • Develop and deliver senior level risk management reporting and communications

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve strategic objectives 

  • Coordinate program-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups

  • Continuously look for ways to improve and innovate in our approach to risk management.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process Management
- At least 2 years of experience in People Management

Preferred Qualifications:

- Business Process Management certification (internal Capital One certification) Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Agile Coach certification, Compliance Certification (CRCM)

- Masters Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Project Management
- At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry
- At least 10 years of overall experience as Project or Process Manager
