Data Ethics and Privacy Risk, Enterprise Services

As a Principal Associate on Capital One’s Enterprise Services Risk (ESR) team, you will apply your risk management experience to support our newly established Data Ethics and Privacy practice.

Working independently, and as a part of a team of Risk Specialists, you will develop and implement risk solutions to help position Capital One as a leader in privacy, data management, and data ethics. 

Principal Associates in the Enterprise Services Risk Office are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent process management, project management and communication skills. In an open, collaborative environment, where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded, you will partner with senior leaders and their teams to drive organizational change in order to better manage the Company’s key risks. You must be a champion for continuous improvement, be adaptive and inclusive, have a passion for risk management, and be comfortable operating in an agile environment to be successful in this role.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Enterprise Data Ethic & Privacy Office (DEPO) to identify and manage risks associated with Capital One’s DEP program. This includes Capital One’s new consumer-facing privacy portal.

  • Support the development of new privacy-related controls and processes 

  • In partnership with Enterprise Services Risk leaders, serve as a liaison between the Data Ethics and Privacy team and Capital One’s broader risk community. 

  • Engage in any risk assessments, exams and audits as it relates to DEPO. When requested, help create materials for regulatory bodies and oversight groups. 

  • Support Privacy Compliance efforts for Enterprise Services, as well as risk management activities associated with future privacy regulations.

  • Provide project management support 

  • Where applicable, write and revise documents such as policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.  

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or military experience
- At least 1 year of Financial Services Risk Management Experience
- At least 2 years of Project Management experience
- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:
- IAPP Certification (CIPP, CIPM) or PMP Certification

- 3 years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
