Systems Support Engineer

Great - and always improving – production support strategies are an essential ingredient of our current and future success.  We are actively seeking a talented engineer to work across our governance structure and Technology platforms to evolve recovery and resiliency capabilities.  As a Technology Manager, you will have the opportunity to tackle complex problems while using your expertise to deliver and support our services. 


Candidates must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners vertically and horizontally throughout the organization.  Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to integrate into a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. This individual must display strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate a team in delivering flawless execution of process improvement projects.

General Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between governance / regulatory programs and IT personnel

  • Creating and validating processes including governance controls to monitor regulatory compliance of IT systems

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and build automation services

  • Monitor and test applications for recovery and resiliency performance (business continuity, disaster recovery, operational resiliency)

  • Collaborating with other tech leads and support teams to ensure integrated end-to-end availability, reliability, and performance

  • Influence and support new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems

  • Influencing resiliency and scalability in production environments in the Amazon Web Services
 and other cloud platforms

  • Designing and producing metrics used to measure application resiliency efficiency and effectiveness

  • Driving process improvements aligned with desired customer outcomes

  • Analyzing, identifying, and correcting data issues with systems used or owned by a department

  • Providing subject matter expertise on processes when representing the department in projects and other meetings

Basic Qualifications: 


  • At least 1 year of experience in system engineering

  • At least 1 year of experience in enterprise support, ITIL practices and principles

  • At least 1 year of experience working in production support teams, software development teams, or network management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

  • AWS certification

  • AWS cloud services configuration & administration Chef, Ansible, Puppet or UDeploy Jenkins, Codeship, or Travis experience Restful web/API services support and deployment

  • Network theory including various concepts such as networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc.), MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing.

  • Linux, UNIX, Openstack administration, Python, Ruby, Go, JavaScript development experience NoSQL platforms

  • Splunk, BlueStripe, Zabbix monitoring / alerting
