The Team

Within the Spark Small Business Card Team, we are Small Business Proud!  Our Customer Development team works with Small Business owners to create long term, meaningful relationships to better understand their business and their entire B2B wallet.  Through a consultative approach, we are able to help Small Business Owners optimize the rewards and benefits they receive from their Spark Business Card.

The Role

A great opportunity exists for a detail oriented, innovative, confident, and experienced professional to work as a Learning and Development Sr. Manager with a stellar team in a growing part of the business.


As the Sr. Learning Manager, you will play a key role providing a range of support to the small business customer development team by planning the implementation and facilitation of training activities and events, budget spending, material production and distribution, and other training resources to ensure well managed and effective results.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills; a strong attention to detail; the ability to work autonomously; and to manage multiple tasks effectively while working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.  In addition, this individual should have strong written and verbal communication skills, both in person and over the phone.

The Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and monitor training programs for our relationship managers, leaders and support teams to be delivered through classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.

- Assist with the development of overall strategic plans relative to training by evaluating the needs of the group(s) and coordinating training programs and schedules accordingly.

- Lead a team of training professionals including facilitators and content developers.

- Conduct orientation as well as continuing education training.

- Develop multimedia visual aids, presentations, brochures and training materials.

- Create testing, evaluation and performance feedback processes.

- Prepare and implement a comprehensive training budget.

- Build solid cross-functional relationships.

- Provide logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management.

The  Competencies

- Understanding of the principles and procedures for delivering effective adult training and developing curriculum.

- Ability to communicate information clearly and facilitate learning to diverse audiences.

- Ability to effectively convey instructions to team members.

- Critical-thinking skills and be able to identify the training needs of an organization and recognize where changes and improvements can be made.

- Solid decision making abilities to meet the needs of the organization.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work and collaborate effectively with direct and indirect team members such as associates, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders.

- Experience in designing and facilitating innovation and group collaboration processes

- Experience utilizing design thinking and/or human-centered design in large organizations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in learning design and development

  • At least 5 years of experience in program development and management

  • At least 3 years of people leader experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma
