We are looking for an Engagement Specialist (ES) to implement a socioeconomic mobility focused engagement plan that serves the needs and interests of associates on the Community Impact and Investment (CII) team and support associate engagement in Central VA, Capital One’s largest people center with over 12,000 associates. Engagement Specialists design and execute strategies for associates and executive engagement across the region and support CII reporting for volunteerism and reporting. Engagement Specialists deliver returns to Capital One and the line of business (LOB) including Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), business development, and reputation.
Specific role responsibilities include:
Collaborate with market and regional grant maker(s), CII partners and external community partners to determine needs and develop and execute a strategy for associate engagement opportunities to meet engagement and CRA goals aligned to External Affairs (EA) and the LOB objectives
Provide, facilitate, source, and support the development and implementation of all engagement programming for Central VA and LOB(s) to advance the community, team and business needs; this includes but is not limited to problem solving with/for internal and external stakeholders, event logistics and ongoing tracking and reporting related to volunteerism and CRA goals
Coordinate, participate in, and support market and regional volunteer networks and grants roundtable (where applicable) or local market equivalent groups that advance and manage individual and team volunteerism
In collaboration with internal and external partners, source/steward/facilitate/execute communications and storytelling connected to engagement activities
Support, develop, and implement associate engagement programming, fulfillment of partner volunteerism agreements, reporting and market-level recognition plans to ensure high quality associate experiences and to drive volunteer retention
Collaborate, support, and execute special projects and/or other duties as assigned that align with CII/EA needs and activities; this may include but is not limited to grants management, CRA qualifications, qualitative narratives and meeting support
Prepare and train volunteers to deliver and deploy financial education programming and resources in the community
Candidates will have the following:

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Strong project management skills: outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and activities with a wide variety and volume of partners while managing change, conflicts and/or shifting priorities
Digital adeptness; ability to easily learn and apply research and data to analyze and drive decisions; comfortable with the entire G Suite, databases, social media, and research & productivity apps; experience with CSR software programs such as CyberGrants is a plus
Working knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act and Corporate Social Responsibility
Travel up to 10% for team events and partner meetings

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of experience in community relations or volunteer management
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Experience sourcing, designing and executing pro bono volunteer projects
Track record of creating and successfully leading virtual volunteer events
Grantmaking experience
Nonprofit or corporate philanthropy work history
Experience meeting Community Reinvestment Act goals
3+ years experience in relevant nonprofit or financial services sector
