Capital One is seeking talented thinkers and senior engineers who can envision next generation software innovation. In this role, you will design and develop industry disrupting experiences for Capital One customers using existing and emerging technology platforms. You will be responsible for design decisions and developing software components. You will have opportunity to develop prototypes and proof of concept applications using open source frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD tools. You will also act as a mentor to junior developers, and will have oversight during implementation into production.
At Capital One, we are building a new agile team to deliver software solutions for the Card Core Business in US Card in support of product development for the future state API platform. Team members utilize Agile Delivery practices and are responsible for end-to-end delivery of micro-services (feature grooming, design, development, testing, and implementation) along with managing and owning the ongoing application maintenance and operations (You Build, You Own).
On this team, you'll have the opportunity to work with exciting and modern technology including Java 8, REST web services, Golang, and AWS.

In this position, as a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies
Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Collaborate with architects, engineers and analysts to implement enhancements or new applications
Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria
Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
Collaborate with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery
Lead the team in maintaining high availability of the applications in production and integration environments
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 4 years of experience in Java software development
At least 3 years of Agile development experience
At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing technology (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
4+ years of experience developing REST APIs
6+ years of software development
6+ years of experience using SQL or Relational Databases
Experience or knowledge with containerization or container technology using Docker
Expertise with Kafka messaging and streaming technology
Understanding of Git version control system
Exposure to Financial Services and Banking concepts
