Senior Manager, Associate Relations Investigator

The Senior Manager, Associate Relations – Investigations Team Lead position leads a team of associates who investigate all types of employment complaints and provides proactive recommendations to HR business partners and business leaders on employee relations issues.  The Investigations Team Lead will also conduct and support escalated investigations as needed.


Responsibilities 

  • Lead a team of Investigators acting as both a coach and subject matter expert

  • Review all investigation reports to ensure all allegations have been addressed and that the investigation was conducted and documented in a thorough and objective manner 

  • Guide Investigators throughout the investigative process, providing coaching and sharing of best practices

  • Tailor development to individual Investigators for them to continue to build their skill set and raise the overall investigative talent of the team

  • Complete Quality Assurance review of a sample of cases each month

  • Partner with other Investigation Team Leads to ensure investigation methodologies are applied consistently across lines of business

  • Serve as a key member of the Associate Relations Investigations Leadership Team, developing and setting strategy for the broader ARI team

  • Investigate and resolve all types of employment complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, interpersonal conflict, wrongful termination, etc.

  • Leverage and apply relevant developments in employment law in partnership with Legal

  • Partner with other departments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance while identifying risk intelligent solutions

  • Thoroughly document investigation plans, interviews, summaries and recommendations in a timely, high-quality manner

  • Review departmental case data to identify trends and emerging risks, and recommend action plans for business units to implement

  • Review and provide recommendations on policies and procedures that support the associate experience

  • Tailor and deliver communications in an effective, measured way to help influence the right outcomes with stakeholders and mitigate risk to the company

  • Act as role model and champion for Capital One’s Values

  • Participate in internal projects which improve processes that require partnership with cross functional teams and integrative problem-solving skills

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of Human Resources, Legal or Risk Management experience

  • At least 5 years of client management experience

  • At least 3 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

  • At least 7 years of experience working in a team corporate environment and collaborating with multiple stakeholders

  • At least 7 years of Human Resources experience, focused on employment investigations

  • At least 5 years of people management experience at the exempt level

  • SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or related/similar certifications
