Manager- Risk, Cyber Security and Information Assurance Lead

Capital One Legal is seeking a Risk Manager, Cyber Security and Information Assurance, to lead efforts in ensuring the Legal Department safeguards Capital One data by leading a robust third party oversight program, while also making certain the department manages risk taking within appropriate tolerance levels.

In this role you lead multiple components of Legal’s information security and risk management programs, including the design of methodology for Legal’s information security assessments and strategies for remediation of identified gaps, designing processes to accommodate evolving requirements, and delivering quality assurance and reporting activities to drive risk governance and decision making, all while staying abreast of increasing cyber threats to our suppliers (and Capital One data).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead program for Legal’s information security assessments

  • Consult with teams across Legal and Cyber departments to design strategy and methodology for managing execution of assessment lifecycle

  • Be a central point of contact for Legal to Capital One’s Information Security teams

  • Manage multiple initiatives independently spanning diverse organizations

  • Manage and develop a small team of risk and process professionals

  • Set and manage to robust efficiency and quality targets for owned programs

  • Build and execute mechanisms for measuring and reporting on risk levels, program effectiveness, process health and other key metrics

  • Strategically consult with Legal teams on Legal’s third party supplier portfolio to determine risk associated with various suppliers

  • Improve enterprise partnerships to assist with increased cyber threats to law firms

  • Consult with Legal accountable executives on consistent approaches to findings remediation, or acceptance of risks, and report on findings to senior management

  • Identify trends in any gaps identified for Legal suppliers and set strategies for remediation or risk acceptance

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Legal on cyber and information security-related topics, and deliver communications to department on topics

  • Stay abreast of increasing cyber threats to our law firms (and Capital One data) and lead response for Cyber incidents within Legall, document incidents and communicate with Cyber, Issue and Event leads, Compliance, and third parties on timely remediation

  • Lead regular risk assessments of Legal’s overall cyber security risk

  • Partner with law firms to communicate assessment findings, negotiate remediation plans, and evidence remediation efforts

  • Ensure Legal’s third party management program remains compliant with legal, regulatory, and enterprise requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • 3+ years of experience in cyber security, supplier management, risk management, project management, and/or process management

  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving and strategic thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in cyber security, supplier management, risk management, project management, and/or process management

  • 2 + years as a people manager

  • Relevant cyber, supplier management, risk, project, and/or process certifications
