Level: Principal Associate
The Learning Consultant is part of the Learning and Development Team and is aligned directly to support our internal and field facing teams in Business Cards & Payments (Small Business Card and Commercial Card). You will work with a team of highly professional Learning and Development Associates to design, develop, facilitate, and manage learning initiatives. You will manage the design, development, coordination and/or implementation of ongoing sales training programs and curriculum. Utilize subject matter experts to identify and proactively address the need to upskill, reskill and identify the learning gap opportunities that will ultimately increase the overall effectiveness of the Business Cards & Payments Field teams and processes.

Collaborates with partners and key stakeholders to design and implement training strategies and programs that will proactively improve the effectiveness of the sales teams, processes and customer interactions
Design and develop curriculum, programs, learning materials and performance support tools based on industry design standards for a given modality (includes web, e-Learning and video design)
Responsible for developing content, including (but not limited to) measurable learning objectives, leaders and participant materials and tools, experiential scenarios and simulations, assessment and evaluation questions
Proficient use of multiple rapid development content tools to create online courseware
Design training solutions that demonstrate an understanding of adult learning principles and leverage current learning trends, including gamification and rich media (example: video) to enhance the learner experience
Manage project timelines, content development, training delivery and facilitation within the team
Conduct on-site facilitation and/or delivery of training programs as an educator, train-the-trainer or event facilitator. Delivers training through classroom sessions, workshops, or individual coaching and/or in conjunction with SME's (subject matter experts) or other business resources, as needed.
Measures and reports on the effectiveness of sales training programs. Continuously seeks feedback, ideas and suggestions to improve training effectiveness, training policies and new training initiatives.
Travel as needed (up to 10% at times) to other company locations for meeting and training purposes.
Work collaboratively with on-site and remote team members.
Assist Learning Manager by identifying issues, diagnosing problems, generating alternative solutions and analyzing opportunities and risks
Set and achieve challenging individual goals that support department and business goals
Assume personal responsibility for projects and follow-through to completion with minimal need for direct supervision
Exceptional professional communication and technical writing skills
Experience with project management and managing multiple, simultaneous tasks
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 4 years experience in learning and development
At least 2 years of experience in supporting field teams or at least 2 years of experience in customer facing roles at a financial institution
At least 1 year of experience using Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, Camtasia, or iSpring Suite
Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Design Technology, or Adult Education
2+ years of experience partnering with Small or Commercial Businesses
2+ years of financial industry experience
1 year of experience with mobile content creation, curation and delivery
1 year of experience with multi-media photo and video editing software

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City: $100,481 - $118,545 for Learning Consultant
Colorado: $85,173 - $100,485 for Learning Consultant
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
