Director, Software Engineering (Identity & Access Management)

We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about growing and sustaining an innovative technology organization while fostering a culture of engineering and operational excellence. This individual will be an engineering leader who enjoys solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, inclusive, and iterative delivery environment. This position will be in the Commercial Technology team supporting our Commercial Banking Business. In this role,  you will lead teams in building out a central Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform for enabling an integrated experience across our B2B Payments and Banking systems and platforms. This Director will be a leader who can draw from their hands-on software engineering experience to drive the technical roadmap for abstracting core IAM capabilities out of existing siloed B2B Payment and Banking systems. 

 

An ideal candidate will have: 

  • Strong in software engineering principles, patterns and practices for designing,  building and instrumenting scalable and resilient systems

  • Strong people leaders with the ability to coach, mentor and serve as an effective manager of managers -  inspiring, empowering, and growing engineers 

  • Experienced building end-to-end modular, secure and scalable applications and experiences  

  • Experienced establishing practices that institutionalize engineering discipline and CICD rigor that enable teams to develop high quality, reliable software delivered through dependable and repeatable release processes 


In this role, you will:

  • Partner with Product, Design, Architecture leads in designing and decomposing identity and access management capabilities, services and experiences

  • Take ownership of raising the technology stability and availability of the existing authentication systems and infrastructure

  • Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused engineers and delivery leaders

  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of associates in your team.

  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities, acceptance and success criteria, test scenarios and test strategies 

  • Continuously improve software engineering and software delivery practices

  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions

  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech and industry trends in IAM, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor members of the engineering community

  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, inclusion and diversity

  • Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams

  • Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments

  • Decompose existing monolithic applications into modular capabilities and microservices 

  • Manage vendor and internal partner engagements for continuity, maintenance and security of subscribed and/or adopted software and services 

  • Collaborate across a variety of application and technology areas -  Portal, Banking, Payables, Receivables and Credit.  

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 7 years of experience in software development 

  • At least 5 years of experience in people management
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree 

  • 10+ years of experience in software development

  • 5+ years of experience in Agile practices

  • 1+ year of experience with public cloud technology (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

  • 3+ years of experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery of software

  • 3+ years of experience building Identity and Access Management platforms
