Capital One Brand is looking to add a Chief of Staff to the Brand Creative, Social Media & Content Marketing, and Digital Products and Technology Marketing teams. The Chief of Staff role is largely about relationships and activating intent. The Chief of Staff is a connector for everyone else in the organization and operates as a strategic partner for the Managing Vice President of Brand and their Senior Leadership team. You will balance big picture, strategic thinking with the realities of tactical execution and are able to recognize overlaps in plans, processes, people, and many other facets of a high-functioning organization. You will have access to people and data at all levels and disciplines and keep at least one ear and one eye open to gauge the energy of the organization at all times. You are both a first line of support for associates and a direct extension of Senior Leadership priorities to the organization. 

What you’ll do

Support Senior Leadership Team

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, confidential thought partner, and act as a sounding board to the Managing Vice President of Brand as well as their Senior Leadership team to drive forward business decisions, results, and team engagement.

  • Develop and iterate management practices (Senior Leadership Team and Organization) to enable transparency, efficiency and effectiveness of our organization

  • Prepare agendas, coordinate materials, and facilitate management practices/meetings

  • Facilitate defining business priorities and drive goal setting effort for the organization, inclusive of cascading information through the organization, managing artifacts, and coordination of regular business reviews of key investments and initiatives

  • Ensure the Managing Vice President of Brand and the leadership team’s time is focused on the highest leverage activities related to priorities in partnership with administrative assistant team, helping to make connections between teams when applicable

  • Be eyes and ears for the Senior Leadership team by keeping a finger on the pulse of our culture and actively participating in shaping it; focusing on morale, attrition, and unspoken feedback

Advance Strategic Initiatives

  • Bring leadership intent to action by fleshing out strategic intent to gain buy in, building coalitions of diverse sets of resources to deliver, monitoring/reporting back on progress, and, at times, acting as proxy for key stakeholders

  • In partnership, help build and execute a long term team vision and destination as our organization continues to evolve into a brand marketing team for the future

  • Manage business critical relationships on behalf of senior leadership, and representing senior leadership accordingly in non-executive meetings

  • In partnership with HR and internal People team partners, counsel leadership team on organizational design, change management, and headcount planning processes

  • Partner with HR and our internal People team partners to execute key associate activities including Talent & Performance Management, AAS information gathering and analysis, and managing recruiting pipeline/priorities

  • Inpartnership with Brand Solutions manage team budget, risk, and legal best practices and processes for MVP's team

Manage Communications and Special Projects

  • Lead team communications needs in partnership with Brand department communications strategies and resources

  • Partner with the Managing Vice President of Brand to develop internal and external speaking engagement and thought leadership materials with an eye towards evangelizing the disciplines of Brand and the Brand department at Capital One

  • Manage and lead through difficult situations and hard conversations; showing a high level of discretion, professional maturity, resilience, and adaptability

  • Serve as “go to” person for information and historical materials

  • Handle oversight of special projects that don’t fit into traditional workstreams

  • At this time, this role is an Individual Contributor

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in a Chief of Staff, executive strategy, marketing strategy, or business management role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Creative or related field

  • At least 7 years of experience working on in-house or agency marketing and creative teams

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting executive level strategy and business objectives 

  • Experience working with a Fortune 100 company
