Principal Risk Specialist

Capital One’s Tech & Data Governance and Risk Management is seeking a passionate associate to support Data Risk Management processes within our Financial Services organization. Within this role the associate will help define, design and oversee internal systems related to data risk governance, New Product and Marketing Initiative Governance (NPMIG), facilitate meetings with Sr. Leadership, update department metrics/reporting, provide risk assessment and advisory related to Data Privacy, Data Security, Third Party Data Sharing and Data Management processes as well as assist the team with projects. Responsibilities:
Collaborating across horizontal stakeholder and partner groups to drive results against Tech & Data strategy 
Monitoring and consulting on the execution of process controls 
Transparency to the health of the process control environment 
Identifying, initiating, and executing process improvements for assigned initiatives 

Project management for Data Risk initiatives, including Third Party Data Sharing and CCPA/Data Privacy 
Risk governance routines for Data initiatives
Assessing the adequacy and quality of risk frameworks to appropriately identify, manage & mitigate data risks

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Military experience or Equivalent of years of business experience in stated role
  • At least 2 years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience with a degree (6 years without degree)
  • At least 2 years of Project or  Program Management experience (6 years without degree)
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting and partnering with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge & experience with managing risk related to Third Party Data Sharing and Data Exchange
  • 3 years of Project/Program Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
