About the Role:
Capital One is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven communications professional to join a growing group of PR experts on our Corporate Communications team.

Our work demands diverse skill-sets including experience in product PR strategy; influencer relations; content creation; earned media strategy; reputation building and protecting; analytics and insights; digital storytelling and more.
This role will support Capital One’s Financial Services (FS) division and will focus on the development of thought leadership strategies and plans for FS executives in order to bolster Capital One’s brand recognition, perception and reputation in the industry.
This person will also collaborate with communications, marketing, HR, brand and agency partners to highlight Capital One’s local market initiatives and drive awareness of Capital One as an employer of choice within the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
This position requires exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills; solid understanding of and experience working with traditional and social media; experience with influencer identification and management; experience leading projects and teams to meet objectives; and the ability to build trusted relationships - with both internal and external stakeholders - while operating in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Build and execute a robust, always-on thought leadership strategy that positively positions senior leaders and elevates awareness of Capital One Financial Services and our enterprise narrative to key stakeholders
Work closely and engage with key leadership stakeholders to build trusted relationships
Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
Develop a multi-dimensional and multichannel thought leadership strategy to align key leaders and messaging both internally and externally
Leverage data and insights to influence and inform narratives and programming
Work with communications partners to develop relevant and consistent messaging and content
Foster relevant media and influencer partnerships
Manage media interviews and prep for senior executive officers, including national television, radio, global print/broadcast media, and all trade publications.
Identify new and existing event sponsorships and speaking opportunities
Manage budgets and reporting
Leverage paid, earned, shared and owned media to elevate Capital One as an Employer of Choice within the greater Dallas-Fort Worth region
Identify and pursue relevant award opportunities
Work with internal and external partners to amplify Capital One’s brand across event and sponsorship activations
Build and enhance mutually beneficial relationships among target media and influencers
Identify news hooks and agile PR opportunities that support business objectives
Thoughtfully determine when to incorporate earned media, influencer relations, experiential and content components into programming
Draft and lead the development of effective communications materials to include strategic plans, press releases, media alerts, remarks, social media content and other communications documents for various audiences
Coordinate media outreach, leveraging key contacts and managing relationships
Oversee flawless media engagement through comprehensive spokesperson prep, on the ground support, and follow-up
Identify and establish relationships with third-party influencers that can contribute to and amplify our content
Partner and collaborate with Corporate Communications team members to ensure well-managed (consistent, streamlined, value-driven and strategic) media and influencer engagement
Effectively manage agency(s) and vendors to support programming and media engagement
Assess risks, issues and potential communications problems and provide proactive solutions
Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive Impact
Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how communications is driving business outcomes, brand awareness and engagement
Support Capital One enterprise communications
Connect the dots across the broader Corporate Communications team to drive efficiencies and create value for our business partners
Identify ways to enhance Capital One’s reputation, ensuring all efforts reflect and bolster the enterprise narrative
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 5 years of Public Relations experience
At least 7 years of Public Relations experience for a leading consumer brand
At least 4 years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
At least 2 years of experience with executive-level clients
At least 2 years of experience working effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, senior management
At least 5 years of experience with current digital and social media technology
At least 5 years of experience with SEO, content and social analytics best practices and principles
At least 1 year of financial services experience
At least 1 year of experience working in or supporting the auto industry
