Capital One’s Financial Services (“FS”) Division is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is a leader and pioneer in the auto-finance industry that specializes in delivering Ai and tech-enabled auto-finance solutions to dealerships and consumers alike. As a Senior Counsel on the Auto Platform Legal Team you will support the business as it looks to solve a variety of problems and pain points in the auto buying industry.
In this role, you will help to identify risks and problem solve alongside a team of world-class professionals. You will meaningfully participate in building innovative digital products and services as embedded legal counsel. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing strategic legal advice on a variety of complex issues and topics
Translating laws, regulations, and legal requirements into clear and focused guardrails
Building relationships and collaborating with business stakeholders in wide-ranging roles
Understanding business needs and providing appropriate solutions to reach the desired goals
Working collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department to provide advice in a consistent, well-reasoned manner
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
At least 5 years of experience in a law firm environment or as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 company
At least 3 years of litigation experience or advising on matters of regulatory compliance
3+ years of experience in advising financial-services (banking, mortgage, or auto-finance) or technology companies
3+ years of experience working as an attorney on tech, data, or product development
Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently, make effective and integrated decisions, and collaborate effectively with associates at all levels in the company
Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, complex concepts, and details
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence others
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
