Sr. Manager, Executive Communications & Associate Engagement - Commercial Bank

Capital One is looking for an energetic, creative and strategic communications professional to join our Commercial Banking Internal Communications team. The Executive Communications & Associate Engagement Sr. Manager will drive internal communications for several segments of our Commercial Banking line of business. We are a Top 10 U.S. commercial bank, with the strength and stability to meet the business needs of our clients. Our Commercial Banking group services more than $76 billion in loan portfolio and offers a suite of loan, deposit, and capital market solutions and expertise across more than 6,100 clients.

As a leader on the Commercial Banking Internal Communications team, you will be responsible for working with key executives and their leadership teams to understand areas of need and build sustainable communications strategies designed to:

  • Build awareness of, and connection to, the business strategy

  • Engage and inspire associates

  • Evolve the way we share our Commercial Banking story

This position requires exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills; experience consulting executives; the ability to lead projects and work with multiple stakeholders or partners to meet objectives; and a proven track record of building trusted relationships and influencing key stakeholders to achieve the best results with associates, clients  and the business in mind.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the executive communications strategy that will bring our business imperatives to life through creative storytelling and engaging experiences including executive-led meetings (virtual or in person), digital/video storytelling and special events.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior executives and their leadership teams to plan and prepare effective, and thoughtful internal communications that engage and inspire leaders and associates, including development of narratives, key messages, and presentations.

  • Provide counsel and lead thoughtful change management communications in support of the business.

  • Ensure communications embody our values and imperatives of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (this includes consulting leaders and engaging enterprise experts, tools and resources as needed.)

  • Shape communications in partnership with our HR, external communications, and other key stakeholders to drive the behaviors for the bank we strive to be and attract/retain associates.

  • Evaluate performance for communications based on key metrics and recommend adjustments to communications strategies, messaging, and channels/forums.

  • Partner with and influence internal stakeholders in the best interest of the business and associates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in communications

  • At least 1 year of experience managing direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing/public relations, English or journalism

  • At least 5 years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • At least 3 years of experience with executive-level clients OR with HR communications

  • Experience working effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, senior management
