The Analyst will support the Debt Capital Markets (“DCM”) team by playing an integral role in a rapidly growing segment of Capital One’s Capital Markets business within its Commercial Bank . The role offers firsthand experience evaluating M&A/LBOs, recapitalizations, and general purpose debt financings for corporate and financial sponsor clients. The individual will be responsible for providing capital structure analysis, industry- and company-specific research, and assist in the preparation of pitchbooks, market updates, internal approvals memos and other analytics to support new business generation. Skills will be developed through significant exposure to senior and mid-level bankers, as well as external clients. The individual will also be expected to sit for FINRA’s SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licensing exams in order to work on securities offerings (if not already attained).
General responsibilities include, among others:
Preparing investment banking deal approval memos
Participation in due diligence sessions for various securities offerings
Industry, sector, and company specific research
Providing analysis to support credit approvals
Analysis of various debt-related legal documents
Creating and maintaining market update materials
Creation of client-ready pitchbooks
Special projects to support new business generation and other general business expansion
Bachelor’s degree or Military Experience
Recent college graduate with commercial banking experience in debt capital markets or loan syndications
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to comprehend complex projects
High proficiency in Microsoft Office including mastery of Excel, Word and PowerPoint or Google Suite
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with ability to keep multiple projects and client engagements active at once
Team-oriented as well a self-starter with the ability to complete assignments individually
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and grow connections with corporate management teams, principals from financial sponsors as well as members of the general investor community
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Formal Credit Training completion is a plus
