Technology Manager - Stability Engineering and Operations

As a Technology Manager at Capital One, you will be part of a smart, talented team responsible for creating and enhancing processes that deliver excellence to your customer each and every time. The Resiliency & Recovery team manages resiliency and reliability risk frameworks, resiliency related risk management and governance, resiliency engineering verification, enterprise resiliency and reliability testing events, and  products that support the teams core objectives.  You will lead critical advancements in the simplification, standardization and automation strategy for key resiliency and reliability controls.  In this position you will contribute immediately while strengthening your process management, technical, coaching and facilitation skills.  We are seeking dedicated, disciplined, process professionals who excel in a team environment and are experts in process improvement and have understanding of application and cloud architecture. This individual will have demonstrated that they can improve company processes in the past, resulting in saving time and resources for the company. This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and owning oversight of specific process improvement work and collaborating with teammates on larger resiliency and reliability initiatives

  • Leading the identification, analysis and review of proposed changes to the resiliency engineering and verification requirements framework

  • Partnering with Resiliency & Recovery leaders to outline a plan to mature our testing requirements, controls and practices

  • Partnering with teams within Technology Operations Center (TOC) and Stability Engineering and Operations (SEO) to support and enable strategies for improving resiliency testing into continuous delivery and one pipeline

  • Building and utilizing a network of stakeholders to identify, review and plan for efforts to address engineering team challenges and pain points related to resiliency engineering

  • Providing subject matter expertise on processes when representing the department in projects and other meetings

  • Forming strong relationships with policy owners to identify areas of improvement, drive maturity of metrics and review changes that impact the Resiliency and Reliability and ensure proper design

  • Learning and grasping concepts supporting software engineering practices (e.g. automated testing, ATDD, Continuous Delivery, CI/CD, AWS, DevOps).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in Process Management 

  • At least 3 years of experience with Technology Controls

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEAN or Six Sigma certification

  • 4+ years of Software Development Life Cycle experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Process Management

  • 4+ years of experience collaborating with teams following an Agile methodology (Scrum or Kanban)

  • 2+ years of experience with Stability and Reliability Engineering 

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
