The Team Leader, Loan Closing will manage a team of 5-8 closers, who plan and drive the closing process for commercial loan products, including managing interactions and communications with all stakeholders (External Counsel, RM, UW, Client).
Job Description & Ideal Candidate:
Provide Leadership oversight for a Team of Loan Closers who perform the following:
Review new opportunities with RM and Underwriter to identify any aspects of deal that have adverse impacts on closing, booking, and/or funding processes
Coordinates, organizes and verifies documentation received from external counsel and all other parties, ensuring documents are complete and accurately represent the approved transaction
Ensures compliance with all loan requirements, commitment and approval conditions, policies and procedures using prudent closing practices and proper documentation
Manages the schedule for loan closing, including ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed for a timely and effective closing
Works with all parties to resolve issues that arise during the closing process
Maintains close communication with all parties to ensure proper and timely settlement
Ensures that all documentation packages are compiled accurately and routed in a timely manner
Demonstrate strong people leadership skills to coach, motivate and inspire the team of closers
Assess the current team to identify gaps and determine appropriate staffing, training and recruiting needs to develop appropriate performance standards and career pathing.
Oversee the management of regulatory audits and adherence to guidelines and standards that are compliant to Capital One Bank’s governance framework.
Identify and champion process improvement to improve the Associate and client experience.
Demonstrate a strong balance of strategic, business and operational skills.
Exhibit excellent cross functional communication skills to leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, and associates along with the confidence to effectively influence the Capital One executive leadership team.
Work at Home Technology Requirements:
A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by using cellular data (hot spot)
Cable or fiber connections are preferred
Internet service download speeds must be at least 5 mbps, with 10+ mbps preferred - check your download speed using a speed test. A sample one can be found here. To test your home internet from your personal computer at home, typewww.speedtest.net into the web browser of your personal computer.
Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network

Candidates must live within 100 miles driving distance of one of the hub locations based in McLean, VA
At least 7 years of experience in loan closing or loan operations
At least 2 years of experience with commercial loan documentation
At least 2 years of People Management experience
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 2 years experience in Project Management tracking multiple closings
At least 2 years experience as a People Leader managing a team of administrators
