Sr. Analyst, Capital Markets

Capital One Treasury is looking for a team player that is self-motivated, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and highly dependable to support the Securities and Funding Operations team.  The Securities and Funding Operations team within the Capital Markets Operations group is responsible for the trade confirmation, settlement and servicing activities associated with Capital One’s Investment Portfolio, Wholesale Funding Programs and Multifamily Finance trading desks.  The Investment Portfolio team manages an investment portfolio of fixed and floating-rate assets purchased on behalf of Capital One Financial Corporation and subsidiaries. Capital One’s wholesale funding programs are designed to provide and maintain sufficient liquidity and capital. The Multifamily Finance group originates and securitize multifamily agency loans.

The key role of the Senior Associate will be to drive the team's data and reporting infrastructure transformation with the aim of enhancing internal synergies within the team by generating operational efficiencies in reporting, reconciliation and data analysis through automation initiatives.  A successful transformation will enable the team to be exception-based processing and produce more accurate, timely reporting and analysis for senior leadership, regulators, and other stakeholders, all the while ensuring the team's alignment with enterprise-wide technology imperatives.

In this role, the Senior Associate will serve as the team's point person for liaison with Finance Tech in all matters related to data and technology transformation. The Senior Associate will work closely with fellow members of the Securities and Funding Operations team to source data from enterprise data hubs and design the future state of the team's data and reporting infrastructure from an operations perspective. The Senior Associate will be expected to possess and contribute working knowledge on data extraction and structuring to test and implement the team's ideas. A secondary and desired skill, though not required, is proficiency in developing tools to analyze and model data for various business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the integrity of Capital One’s treasury trading positions through accurate trade capture, confirmation, settlement and record retention

  • Work with enterprise-wide technology teams to source relevant data and manipulate the data to business-user-friendly format for data analysis via appropriate tools

  • Ability to communicate complex information to non-Technical audience

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment while simultaneously being able to independently run ad-hoc projects in addition to daily current tasks and responsibilities (under supervision)

  • Take the initiative and be comfortable recommending and implementing process changes to improve operational efficiencies

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- At least 1 year or experience in investment management or banking or consulting

- At least 1 year of working knowledge of data science tools and languages

Preferred Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Statistics, Math or Computer Science or military experience

- Fundamental understanding of  fixed income securities, capital markets and funds settlement

- High degree of proficiency in Excel, including comfort and familiarity with advanced Excel functions

- Experience with Business Objects software and Bloomberg

- 1+ year of experience with reporting/data visualization such as Birst/Tableau

- Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.

- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
