Shift Lead, Cyber Security Operations Center

Capital One is looking for a talented Information Security Shift Lead with network security monitoring experience to join our Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) in McLean, VA. The Shift Lead position will require strong understanding of network protocols and infrastructure, familiarity with troubleshooting and root cause analysis techniques. Additionally, the position requires the ability to foster learning and growth among the CSOC analysts on the shift you will lead. You will be in a rapidly evolving environment, that will bring new challenges and opportunities for growth on a regular basis and be empowered to develop and explore your unique passions in Cybersecurity Operations.

You, along with your team, your peers, and others in operations and intelligence, will work to find the nefarious actors attempting to attack Capital One infrastructure and mitigate those who make it past our defenses. 

In addition to the technical skills, you will need to be someone who enjoys training and mentoring teammates, and a person who can encourage and elevate the team to new heights.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification

  • At least 1 year of experience leading and developing others 

  • At least 3 years of experience conducting cybersecurity investigations into network and application activity

  • At least 3 years of experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) with SIEM technology

  • At least 2 years of experience analyzing application and network based attacks

  • At least 4 years of experience working with *nix and Windows operating systems

  • At least 4 years of experience analyzing and identifying network traffic

  • At least 2 years of experience coordinating incident handling and remediation

  • At least 3 years of experience leveraging security and infrastructure technologies during investigations (firewall logs, network security tools, malware detonation devices, proxies, IPS IDS)

  • At least 2 years of experience with PCAP analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security or Computer Science

  • CISSP Certification

  • One or more of the following industry certifications AWS Security, CCSP, or other Cloud Security certifications

  • One or more of the following industry certifications SANS GIAC 503 or 504 Certifications

  • 2+ years in a Security Operations Center leadership role

  • 5+ years working in a Security Operations Center

  • 1+ year of experience configuring security appliances

  • 1+  year of experience developing SIEM alerts and IPS/IDS signatures
