Senior Manager, Retail Bank Learning & Development

As a Senior Learning Manager, you’ll partner with business leaders and HR colleagues to drive the talent learning and development agenda for Capital One Bank’s Product, Payments, and Risk teams. Using visionary leadership, you’ll guide a team of talented learning professionals across multiple organizations within Product Experience, Payments, and Risk to architect, build, and deliver a world-class learning experience across product strategists, operations associates, and risk management professionals. You will partner closely with key business and HR leaders to understand highest priority business needs both now and in the future, partner to identify the highest points of leverage in learning for the business, and craft digital-first (but not only) learning solutions to enable that learning. You will also serve as a visionary and architect for crafting new experiences as a part of our Product Experience, Payments, and Risk Management learning portfolios.

A day in the life…

  • Build close partnerships with Business Executives and HR Leadership to understand imperatives, gain insights into critical talent drivers for the organization, and consult on the appropriate talent development agenda

  • Leverage experience and background in instructional design and adult learning to drive the creation and adoption of innovative and cutting edge blended learning experiences utilizing digital, video, audio, mobile, and experiential learning formats

  • Lead and manage a team of managers and learning professionals who consult, design, develop, curate, and deliver learning solutions for Retail Bank home office roles

  • Partner with key business partners to identify and prioritize points of leverage in learning for business impact and scope learning needs for new initiatives to build out our learning portfolio

  • Partner with other Learning & Development professionals across the Enterprise to gain efficiencies, share best practices, and optimize how we interact

  • Use exceptional influence, written, and verbal communication skills to refine and socialize our L&D strategy, where learning is a lever to optimally support the business, and the impact of our learning experiences to date

  • Design and implement the measurement and evaluation strategy to determine program effectiveness; share results and partner with leaders to drive improvements to enhance value, sustainability, and learner impact

  • Recommend evidence-informed change management solutions that drive adoption and culture change

  • Represent learning in broader project efforts, ensuring an early focus on the implementation needs to ensure effective delivery in alignment with project goals and timeline

  • Stay current with external trends, best practices, and innovations and infuse these into the work products and consulting offered to clients

  • Influence across multiple cross-functional teams, client organizations, and groups without direct authority, collaborate with enterprise learning peers to leverage existing products and experiences, and identify solutions that achieve shared results

  • Travel as needed (up to 25% post-COVID-19 travel restrictions) to other company locations for meeting and delivery of learning experience

  • Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

    • At least 3 years of experience in Human Resources OR Learning and Development client consulting OR a combination 

    • At least 3 years of People Management experience

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in Business, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, or Organizational Design/Effectiveness

    • At least 4 years of experience leading projects OR working in Agile teams OR a combination 

    • At least 4 years of experience in HR or Learning and Development client consulting OR a combination 

    • At least 4 years of experience working with leaders with a focus on client consulting to understand skill gaps
