Capital One is looking for a Senior Learning Manager to support ~8,000 associates and ~1,900 People Leaders across our Staff groups - Capital One’s Audit, Finance, Human Resources (HR), Legal, and Risk teams. We’re looking for someone who will thrive leading a team that’s rapidly growing its learning portfolio, evolving our business support model, and supporting a broad base of learners. The individual will enjoy a fast-paced and collaborative environment, have a passion for building scalable learning strategies and experiences, and bring a creative and customer-backed mindset to all of their work.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Partner closely with business executives and HR leadership to understand imperatives, gain insights into critical talent drivers for the organization, and consult on the appropriate talent development agenda in order to identify and prioritize points of leverage in learning to maximize business impact. 

  • Lead and manage a team of learning professionals who consult, design, develop, curate, and deliver learning solutions across all Staff groups. 

  • Build, scale, and deliver a comprehensive portfolio of horizontal learning solutions across Staff groups (e.g., DIB, people leadership, team effectiveness, soft skills, competency learning) and critical, business identified skill development opportunities. 

  • Leverage experience and background in instructional design, adult learning, and leadership theory to design, develop and deploy innovative, digital first and blended learning experiences. 

  • Design and implement a measurement and evaluation strategy to determine program effectiveness; share results and partner with leaders to drive improvements to enhance value, sustainability, and learner impact. 

  • Define and socialize learning’s story of how we plug in as a strategic talent lever, culture impactor, and business results driver and where we can optimally support the business. 

  • Communicate program results and impact leveraging data, and engage effectively with executive partners and other stakeholders, as needed. 

  • Leverage project management skills to deliver an optimized and flawless learner experience including change management strategies, effective communications, and coordination with learner, communications, and support teams. 

  • Stay current with external trends, best practices, and innovations and infuse these into the work products and consulting offered to clients.

  • Influence across multiple cross-functional teams, client organizations, and groups without direct authority, collaborate with enterprise learning peers to leverage existing products and experiences, and identify solutions that can achieve broader shared results.

  • Travel as needed (up to 25% post-COVID-19 travel restrictions) to other company locations for meeting and delivery of learning experiences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in learning design and development

  • At least 5 years of experience in client consulting or performance consulting or a combination of both

  • At least 5 years of experience leading projects or working in Agile teams, or a combination of both

  • At least 3 years of experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Learning and Development, or Organizational Design/Effectiveness

  • At least 5 years of experience with supplier/vendor relationship management

  • At least 5 years of experience managing budgets

  • At least 5 years of experience working in the learning & development industry

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City

- $151,300 and $178,500 for Sr. Learning Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
