Center 2 (19050), United States of America, McLean, VirginiaSenior Business Director - Head of Credit Risk & FraudThe Credit Risk and Fraud organization in the Commercial Credit Card business at Capital One is responsible for defining and implementing the credit and fraud strategies, working with internal partners, prospects and customers to support Commercial’s Credit Card growth and ensuring we have a scalable, well-managed business.
As a leader of this space, you are responsible for developing risk management strategies, defining our risk appetite, policies and procedures, and leading & managing a team of underwriters, process managers, business analysis and investigators to analyze, assess, and mitigate risk for the Commercial Card business. As a people manager at Capital One, you play a critical role in bringing in the best talent and creating opportunities for our associates to be great through coaching, development, and performance management.
Primary Credit Risk & Fraud Management responsibilities may include:
Credit Risk
Partner with business leadership and key stakeholders to establish goals, create and manage underwriting guidelines, evaluate market opportunities so as to contribute to the unit’s profitability and allocate resources appropriately.
Partner with the Credit Risk Management (CRM) organization to foster an environment of open dialogue around risk tolerance and credit appetite.
Maintain portfolio quality by assisting in the underwriting of loans and in the development of loan modifications and strategies.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of the business, its customers, loan portfolio, competitive environment, economic trends and policies.
Schedule and conduct periodic portfolio and industry reviews to forecast and identify emerging problems within the portfolio
Identify potential structural enhancements in order to improve the credit and reduce risk exposure.
Fraud
Develop the strategy for stopping credit card fraud from happening, ensuring our customers are taken care of when they are impacted, and minimizing the overall financial impact of fraud on Capital One.
Partner with the Enterprise Fraud organization to collaborate on strategy and capability development, joint implementations and achieve alignment on company-wide policies.
Directly lead a team of analysts, process managers and investigators and have ownership of fraud loss P&L.
Monitor fraud trends and develop short, medium and long term strategies to be a leader in the industry and partners with product and tech teams to deliver these strategies.
Support Capital One’s journey to deliver a faster, easier, and more digital set of customer experiences.
General
Demonstrate subject matter expertise for specific line of business, including attending and participating in industry workshops, conferences, etc.
Encourage an atmosphere of urgency toward meeting customer’s needs and providing excellent customer service.
Promote appropriate application of all policies and procedures; support and drive adherence to regulatory compliance requirements
Primary Leadership Responsibilities may include:
Responsible for developing and managing a diverse team engaged in the underwriting, structuring, and closing of credit card deals, as well as stopping credit card fraud from happening.
Craft a strategic plan & vision, oversee the identification and execution of critical process improvements
Responsible for recruiting, training, performance management, rewards and recognition – in accordance with our company values.
Cultivate a positive work environment by ensuring all team members are properly challenged and motivated and play an integral role in the team’s productivity through an effective and equitable allocation of assignments.
Develop high caliber associates through on-going mentoring, coaching and career development planning.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
At least 10 years of experience in analysis
At least 10 years of experience in credit underwriting or at least 10 years of experience in portfolio management
Previous formal leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in related field - economics, finance, or business
At least 12 years of experience in credit underwriting or at least 12 years of experience in portfolio management
Subject matter expertise in specific industry or segment
