Risk Manager - Operational Risk Management

Do you want to be join a team that’s dedicated to making risk management a competitive advantage at Capital One?   We are looking to hire a new Manager on to a fast-moving, hard-working, and fun risk management team!  Bring your unique perspectives and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.Operational Risk Officers are the liaisons between Operational Risk Management and the entire enterprise.  Serving as both an effective challenger and a trusted advisor, Operational Risk Officers are integrated into multiple dimensions of first line activities and risk-taking.  As a Manager in the Operational Risk Officer team supporting our Small Business Bank (SBB) and Small Business Card (SBC) divisions, your role will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, superb integrative thinking across the facets of operational risk, and a desire to help the enterprise properly manage operational risk. SBB and SBC are high growth businesses that are at the forefront of driving Capital One’s digital and technology agenda.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing challenge to the First Line of Defense’s risk-taking and risk assessments
  • Evaluation of new products and initiatives from an operational risk perspective
  • Provide consult to SBB and SBC on projects, new initiatives, business objectives, processes, risk events, controls, and/or monitoring
  • Evaluating the operational risk profile and risk analysis for SBB and SBC, culminating in quarterly Divisional Operational Risk Reporting
  • Working across the multiple dimensions of operational risk programs and understanding how they impact SBB and SBC
  • Influencing executives within ORM and SBB/SBC on key operational risks and actions needed
  • As needed, developing ad-hoc analysis, deep dive investigations and driving specific risk initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, or Finance
  • At least 2 years of experience performing business analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in dealing with banking regulations, at least 3 years of experience in dealing with product development, or at least 3 years of experience in dealing with control testing
  • At least 2 years of experience building new processes or governance
  • At least 2 years of experience with leading cross-functional teams (setting direction of team and managing expectations)
