Principal Security Consultant, Risk Analyst

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Principal Associate (PA) to join the Enterprise Safety & Security (ESS), Central Operations - Well Managed Team.  The Well Managed Team ensures compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, internal processes and operational best practices.  The Well Managed Team also performs ongoing identification, validation and assessment of risks and controls that relate to ESS’ policies, standards, processes and practices, as well as, those related to new buildings, mergers or acquisitions.

This position will partner with several internal ESS Teams, including Security Technology, Protective Services, Sentry, and Regional Security Operations/Contract Physical Security staff located across the Capital One footprint.  Along with internal ESS relationship building, this position will also liaison with many external partners such as the Enterprise Services Business Chief Risk Office (ES BCRO), Environmental, Health & Safety, and Workplace Solutions (WPS).  These relationships are key to supporting ESS’ mission of promoting a well-managed culture.

In addition, the individual in this role should have previous experience with controls development and testing, excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding teamwork skills, demonstrated problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. This PA may also need to provide support or leadership to other programs, projects, or initiatives within ESS.


  • Perform first line monitoring for ESS and Workplace Solutions through the development of PRIME controls and testing to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and both operational and well managed controls
  • Perform and support detailed data analysis to include trending, problem identification, and development/completion of remediation for ineffective controls
  • Ensure issues are properly managed and reported to business areas and remediated appropriately to reduce outstanding risk or performance breakdowns
  • Manage ESS governance documentation and ensure compliance with both ESS and corporate requirements
  • Conducts OSHA injury reporting
  • Maintains Business Continuity plans
  • Provides subject-matter expertise and administration for repository archive and cloud-based office solutions (e.g., SharePoint, TeamSites, Google, etc.) to ESS
  • Manages work across organizational lines to achieve results through competing priorities
  • Provides support to the D3 case management system administrator and Life Safety Coordinator, as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, equivalent certification or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management, or Process Management or Physical Security
  • At least 1 year of experience in project management or program management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • 4 years of experience in Audit, or Risk Management, or Physical Security
  • 2 years of experience in quality assurance, or quality assurance testing
  • 2 years of experience in process improvement
