Partner Capital Loan, Underwriter and Portfolio Manager II - Regional Commercial Bank

The Underwriting and Portfolio Management organization is responsible for working with internal partners to underwrite new transactions and manage the existing portfolio of credit facilities. Our Underwriters/Portfolio Managers balance achieving the Commercial’s Bank’s growth goals and ensuring we have a scalable, well-managed business. This role supports Partner Capital Loans across all of Middle Market Banking.

As an Underwriter & Portfolio Manager, you begin to demonstrate subject matter expertise in credit risk management and are expected to perform responsibilities independently. In addition to your own job duties, you may play a leadership role across deal teams by guiding and shaping more junior associates. You are trusted with complex transactions or are relied upon to solve unique problems because of your experience and job specific skills.

Primary underwriting responsibilities may include:

·Lead due diligence process and calls; evaluate industry research to draw relevant conclusions on material strengths, risks, and mitigants related to Partner Capital Loan facilities and the individual partner capital loan requests.

·Assist less experienced team members in financial statement analysis.

·Prepare, recommend and approve credit decisions on individual loan requests.

·Coordinate with deal team and lead underwriter for the corporate credit and master partner capital loan facility on appropriate structuring options or overrides to financial models 

·Write and prepare all parts of the credit approval document related to individual loan requests under the master partner capital loan facility; may review work of less experienced members of the team; begin to take a leadership role in conversations with internal partners

·Oversee closing process requirements

·Prepare term sheets related to Partner Capital Loan facilities with minimal guidance; understand majority of provisions of all credit documents and able to provide rationale for them; negotiate credit documents

·Drive overall deal process and lead communication with internal and external constituents; constructively improve deal process

Primary portfolio or asset management responsibilities may include:

·Manage a portfolio of accounts independently; review and monitor portfolio accounts’ health and performance against expectations; drive customer retention

·Anticipate issues, draw parallels from other accounts to own account; resolve problem accounts in partnership with other teams and specialists

·Assist with annual reviews and both material and non-material modifications independently and on time related to the master Partner Capital Loan facility.

·Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures for existing accounts including, but not limited to, reporting for Partner Capital Loans.

·Respond to requests from all internal and external stakeholders

·Ensure portfolio data is accurate, timely, and complete to maintain timely and reliable portfolio reporting

Additional Responsibilities may include:

·Build relationships across function and business to foster collaboration among partner groups

·Interact directly with customers to cultivate strong relationships while balancing risk and return 

·Mentor and train credit analysts and new hires who support partner capital loans

·Participate in internal initiatives to ensure the business is well managed and operates efficiently

·Work with our Technology partners to support the needs of Decision Pro

·Assist with cross functional projects extending beyond the Partner Capital Loan portfolio.

Basic Qualifications:

·Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience or at least 3 years of prior work experience underwriting partner capital loans 

·At least 3 years of experience in credit underwriting or at least 3 years of experience in portfolio management or at least 3 years of experience in asset management

Preferred Qualifications:

·Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant fields or 5+ years of prior work experience underwriting partner capital loans 

·5+ years of experience in credit underwriting or 5+ years of experience in portfolio or 5+ years of experience in asset management supporting partner capital loan lending
