The Learning and Development Coach in the Community Development Banking group will manage financial education content and oversee the training and education of Capital One Financial Access Educators (FAEs). FAEs partner with nonprofit organizations to deliver financial capability education in the areas of credit, homeownership, small business, savings/budgeting and financial digital literacy to very low income and moderate income adults.
Working with a team of committed community development experts and informed by best practices, the Coach will refine and develop a best-in-class financial education program and will train and support the development of the FAEs. The Coach will create compelling content which allows the FAEs to provide value and impact to non-profit partners. The Coach will regularly travel to different markets to assess FAE presentation skills and will provide training and guidance to ensure excellence and consistency of the FAE program.
This role requires travel of approximately 25% and reports to the Senior Director, Financial Well-Being.
Lead the training and education of Financial Access Educators on different financial education topics, including credit building, savings, money management, as well as financial digital literacy and financial products
Create and revise succinct, compelling presentations on different topics of financial education and Capital One educational tools and products to engage diverse audiences
Provide centralization and consistency to the presentation and facilitation skills of the FAEs
Drive future and current strategy around financial education presented to non-profit partners
Utilize collected survey information to help inform the development and training of FAEs.
Ensure standard and uniform delivery of content across FAEs and markets
Regularly view and assess presentation performance of FAEs to determine additional training needs and program success
Collaborate with relationship managers and senior leadership team to refine and improve the FAE program
Identify and create opportunities to share best practices among FAEs and CDB relationship managers
The ideal candidate will:
Enjoy influencing an audience to take positive action in regards to credit, homeownership, saving and budgeting
Have the ability to identify opportunities to elevate our financial education to underserved consumers and communities
Exude passion for training, coaching and mentoring a team of associates
Advocate for economic opportunity and financial security for low- and moderate-income communities
Have the ability to influence and develop relationships with associates across the Community Development Banking team
Have technological proficiency to support presentations and use of digital tools
Ability to create compelling presentations and bring simplicity to complex subject matters
Have exceptional written / verbal communication and influencing skills with a high level of attention to detail
Ability to travel across the nation (Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Miami, NYC, New Orleans and DC) for up to 1 week per each trip
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 3 years experience creating and presenting training materials
At least 1 year of work experience in financial services, including areas of credit, homeownership, small business, saving or budgeting
At least 1 year of coaching a training team
Bilingual in Spanish and English, both written and conversational
Fluency in digital financial tools and the ability to understand and learn new digital skills and tools
Experience leading or facilitating financial capacity workshops with low income communities
Experience in helping low income individuals build their credit, grow their savings and managing their finances
