THE ROLE

The Capital One Business Cards & Payments team is looking for a Market Ops Insights Strategist (Sr. Associate) professional to join their Business Insights Team to establish and lead new research operations. In this role, you will provide best-in-class market research operations and serve as a functional partner to a team of insights strategists to help them deliver key insights that inform product development, marketing, and business strategies.  As a research operations lead, you will help manage and prioritize multiple market research and strategy projects to ensure they are on time and on budget in a highly collaborative environment, as well as designing and implementing operational standards. You also will have the ability to grow and learn how to hone your market research and insights strategy skillset. 

Through your work you will help the team dive into the leading-edge of consumer and market research to answer crucial questions like:

  • Who are our customers, how can we best reach them with media (e.g. via television, social media), and how do they use our business products (e.g. do they carry a balance, how do we fit into their financial ecosystem, or how can we help improve cash flow)?

  • Is our business impacted by evolving market trends (i.e. fintech innovation, new products, new shopping behaviors etc.) ?

  • And do socio-demographic developments change the answers to our questions?

You’re able to present complex research findings and ideas to product partners and senior leaders in creative ways that are also design-friendly.

  • Is Self-motivated and entrepreneurial – comfortable with white space and interested in proactively proposing and pursuing new research projects to address questions

What You’ll Do:

  • Formalize the research operations function within the Business Insights team. This includes creating, documenting, communicating, managing and improving standards, templates, processes, and engagement models with the team and internal and external partners

  • Lead and manage the operational aspects of several core research programs, including qualitative and quantitative studies. This includes program communications, vendor management, process documentation and compliance, budget management, timeline management, asset and knowledge delivery/management

  • Manage primary research tools, third-party data tools, and syndicated resource access, usage and capabilities

  • Develop a strong partnership with our product and design partners, as well as legal, compliance and risk to ensure research is conducted compliantly across Capital One

  • Coordinate recurring team level communications. This includes activities such as clearly articulating the role of the Business Insights team to partners, socializing team capabilities to new hires at the company, creating newsletters, and sharing project pipeline updates. 

  • Collaborate and support Insights Strategists on our team to ensure we are meeting research needs across the organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a market research, consumer insights, or a strategy role including planning support, competitive intel and execution assistance in market research

  • At least 2 years of experience working in market research on the vendor or agency side

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Market Research, Marketing, Business, Sociology, Psychology, or Behavioral Economics

  • Experience managing complex market research programs 

  • Knowledge of analytic methodologies and research platforms like Qualtrics, Alida or Decipher research platforms

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City: $96,254 - $113,558 for Sr. Marketing Associate

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
